“I hold all the world’s famous mountains and rivers in my hand, but what of it? They’re nothing but a bunch of rocks and wild waters. Of all that I am, the only part worth anything may be my heart. If you want it, it’s yours.”
I can’t believe I’ve just read the last page of Guardian: Zhen Hun, Vol. 3, and I am absolutely blown away! This final volume had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei’s relationship goes through so many twists and turns, and I couldn’t get enough of it. The emotional intensity is just incredible—I felt every single moment between them!
The way the story dives deeper into the supernatural world and all the mythology we’ve been building up to is just perfect. The plot twists kept me guessing the entire time, especially with all the revelations about Zhao Yunlan’s past and the hidden history of Dragon City. I was completely hooked and couldn’t put it down. Yes, there’s a lot of info and lore to keep track of, but honestly, I loved every second of it. It made the world feel so rich and alive.
And can we talk about the side characters? Guo Changcheng and Chu Shuzhi’s moments were so heartwarming, and Daqing’s antics had me laughing out loud. The extra stories at the end were such a treat, giving a bit more closure and just making me fall in love with these characters all over again.
This was such an amazing conclusion to the series! It’s got everything—romance, mystery, supernatural intrigue, and so much heart. I can’t recommend it enough. If you love epic stories with deep character relationships and lots of twists, you need to read this. I’m already thinking about rereading the whole series again!

I really enjoyed every Priest novel I have read, and this is no exception. World building, character development, the mystery, and plot twists are very well done.

Frustratingly annoying. I care so much about Chu-ge and Xiao-Guo 🥰, but I couldn’t care less about anything else… 😤

(not really spoiler, not even the spoiler part of the review but it alludes to stuff so i wanted to be sure)

It´s my second time reading Guardian by Priest. The first time was online. before it got an official release. I have to say the translations were ass (still thankful they existed) and a bit all over the place, so I did struggled to understand it.
I thought "this time it will probably be a bit better, but still an averagely ranked Danmei" but man was i wrong.
It was so much better than i remembered.
I am a sucker for reincarnation stories, about second, third, fourth chances to be with u fated one!
Danmei does that so fking good. Even if they aren't technically soulmates in the explicit sense, it just convinces u without a doubt -> those 2 are meant to be! (RanWan, WeiLan, WangXian...).
WeiLans devotion to each other, right away, was lovely too! It never felt like one was more dedicated to this relationship than the other. Despite the premise kinda giving u the feeling one would be.
Simps unite!
Simps unite!
The lore in this one is DEEP. I can't for sure say i understood every aspect of it (littered with lies, and mirages, and deception), but it gave the story so much...✨️more✨️ u know? U felt like u experienced multiple lifetimes and stories, in one go.
"𝘟𝘪𝘢𝘰-𝘞𝘦𝘪, 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦. 𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦. 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘯. 𝘐𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯"
It made the ending of the main story so much more meaningful.
