A queernormative world with a really cool magic system? Yes please. I really loved the characters in this, my only issue was the pacing was a bit uneven.

I would die to protect Pila and if anything happens to them I will riot.

This was an enjoyable read. Although I struggled with the first half I ended up being immersed and and flying through the second half. I grew to enjoy our characters and the world building.

This book had a take on fae that I ended up enjoying in contrast to a lot of books (and especially other "romantasy" books) that include them, and I really enjoyed the fact that the world included non-binary genders and was queer normative.

I wasn't greatly engaged with the plot until the end, however, and nearly dropped this book in the first half. Though I am glad I pulled through in the end.

this was good, but I found the twists to be too predictable and I had trouble rooting for the couples. the romance moved a bit too fast for me. I did enjoy the writing and the character's voices, though

Spoiler-Free Summary:
Yeeran was born a warrior, but on the day of her greatest achievement, she loses it all. Now banished from the Elven territory of Waning, she must find her glory elsewhere in order to gain her place back in the army fighting the Forever War. When Lettle learns of her sister’s fate, she resolves to leave their war-torn territory behind and follow. With the help of some folks along the way, the sisters’ paths will converge on top of a secret so great, it will change the very world.

Thoughts:
This. Book. Is. Fantastic. Easily one of the best fantasy books I’ve read in the past two years. I swear at least once a month, I kick myself for leaving a book so log on my TBR, but I’m not sure I’ve ever been so mad at myself.

First and foremost, the world the author has painted is incredible. Built upon rich lore, legends, and magic, the world of Fae and Elves is dangerous, whimsical, and brilliant. I am deeply obsessed with the magic system, and cannot stop obsessing over the characters themselves. And the magical creature companions? Perfection.

Let me let you in on a little secret…I typically hate sister stories. Like, loathe them entirely. But THESE sisters? I will die for them your honor. I love Yeeran and Lettle. I love that they’re different and have opposing, yet complimentary, strengths. The side characters are incredibly interesting and well fleshed out, and I’m attached, so they’d better be okay in book two, lmao.

The romance is definitely not the main objective for this book, but I still deeply enjoyed both of the sisters’ journey to love.

Lastly, the queer normative world was EVERYTHING! So refreshing!!

If you love stories like The Empyrean series, or When The Moon Hatched, you will adore this. And even I can admit that Faebound is even more approachable than those, lmao.

3⭐️

This book was so interesting. It's different to most other fantasies I've read, but I found myself unable to put it down. It's very well written. There was a lot of world building to be done, and the author managed it without it feeling like a big info dump.

We have two POVs, Yeeran and Lettle. Despite being sisters, it's clear from the start that they're completely different. I found myself gravitating more towards Lettle than her sister.

While there is some romance, it takes a back seat to everything else, which given the overall tone of the book wasn't surprising. I did feel like both went from zero to 100 fairly quickly. Especially when one's avoiding a prophecy and the other has a good reason to be hated by their interest.

I did find a lot of the twists predictable, like I was waiting for the characters to catch up to what I already knew. But there were some I'd missed, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where the story goes in the next book.

I'm struggling with how to rate the book because while I found it interesting and I will continue the series, i can't say that I love it. I recognise that the writing of the world is good but I don't feel anything when I think about it. However, I will say that I admit this book isn't something I'd usually read, and that may be the issue there, I'd imagine if this is your vibe you'll love it.

Hmm hated the animal death and entrail readings.
The main characters general callousness towards animals was just gross. Both sisters annoyed me. The relationships were annoying too. The world was okay, but in the end did not enjoy enough to continue.

I really loved The Ending Fire trilogy by the same author, but was disappointed by Faebound. The writing was clunky and even a little cringey at times.  I felt like this story had "good bones" but missed the mark in terms of character development. I'll read the second, upcoming installment because I am familiar with the author, not because I liked this book.

I good read but it felt very predictable. Some of the early themes
of hunting the obdeah in detail
made me quite uncomfortable and I think the pacing was a bit off, alot of it moved slowly and then suddenly all at once

i feel conflicted bc the book was easy and rather fast to read and the world building was quite interesting and i really liked the queer and disability rep, but I just couldn't get into it fully and wasn't looking forward to continuing, i didn't really like the different dynamics between love interests either and some interactions just felt off, i do think i might have dnfed too early bc i guess twists and revelations would have happened soon but unfortunately i don't care for that too much, it's a shame but I'm excited to continue reading the final strife series soon
