Dark Romance for sure.

Avery is a 20-year-old real-estate heiress for Mitchell Holdings and Aiden works in Security for Mitchell Holdings.

The thing is Mitchell Holdings is not just a Real Estate company. They have a much darker side to them. One that Aiden is all too intimately aware of. He was born into the dark, disgusting underbelly of the Mitchell Holdings family and he wants his revenge.

The book is written in a Dual POV, going back and forth between Avery and Aiden and you get an inside look at both of their emotions and the turmoil that both experience.

I think that overall, this was a well-paced story and the way that Bailey provided information, as we went along, was absolutely riveting and left me desperate to keep turning the page.
When it comes to the sexy times, there was a solid amount of build up I feel like and the pay off was solid- while I wished for a bit more- it made sense for the characters.

There is an exploration into BDSM, it's nothing hard-core, very surface level that I hope she explores further!

My ONLY gripe with this book is that it ends on a cliffhanger - the good news is that the next book is out and so one can go binge that now! Also (from what I can tell) Bailey tends to publish her series pretty close together!

Okay so off the bat we start off with a bang ! Killing, kidnapping … falling for the bad boy with the tattoos!!!

Aiden and Avery start off rocky but then it develops into something more, as she discovers what shady shit her parents were into and how her and his path connect

Aiden my avenging angel has dealt with heartbreak from a very young age at the hands of her parents shady business

Two people who shouldn’t fall for each other do & just when you think they are going to make it out … something else gets in the way

Their slow build up, the sexual tension, the chemistry
Just… just good

This is a really dark and twisted read and while it may not be for everyone I was pulled right in and hooked right until the very end. It is really well written and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is the first book in the series and I cannot wait for more. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

This is scratching my dark romance itch
Within the first 20 pages we get murders and kidnap

We have Stockholm syndrome, we have hidden agendas, secrets, I NEED TO KNOW IT ALL

Oh the promise of murder mystery and romance makes me decide to pick up this book. Then something does not click entirely with me.

The character development is off. I can not feel the chemistry between Avery and Aiden even with the murder between them. And I think the author tries to justify Aiden kidnapping just because Avery's family reputation. There is a little BDSM aspect in the romance. Not enough to steam up the romance.

And also there is a lot of repeating words that bored me a bit. What i like about this book is the idea of murder mystery and the pace of the book. It is well paced despite the disadavantage of the characters development.

Overall i do enjoy this book OK

i want to start this out by saying this is my first ✨spicy✨ book so my review may be a little skewed based on that fact.

i had no idea what to expect when i started this book at 12:30am but boy was i in for a wild ride. i’m still not sure how i feel about the whole normal just having a conversation to “i want to f*ck you” in .5 seconds. i felt like there was no real buildup to any of the spicy scenes (besides the first one) the rest just kind of *happened*

it also seemed to be VERY repetitive. fight, ✨spicy✨, yell and scream fight, end scene.

there was SO much buildup throughout the whole book for the “big event” (whatever that is) only for it to end on a cliffhanger. i feel like if i read 350 pages i deserved SOMETHING rather than a “read the next book to find out”

also, the spicy

Gods what is wrong with those of us who have fallen for Sarah’s men every single book. I’m choosing to not look to deeply into it and keep reading her books.

So far the spice is pretty vanilla compared to the Four Horsemen series, but I expect that will change with the next book.

HOWEVER. IMO: The context for the book is the darkest we’ve seen from Sarah yet, definitely the most graphic.

Once again, Sarah Bailey has given me an intoxicating man to obsess over followed by a infuriating cliffhanger! But fortunately for me, this series is complete so I’m diving right into the next book.

Avery is a young heiress who seems to have the perfect life. Close friends, loving parents, and a promising future. But then one night, that all changes. Her perfect everything is ripped away by one dark man, who then takes her captive.

Aiden’s hatred for Avery’s family runs deep. He has suffered by the hands of the Daniels since he was a small boy. He’s finally serving up his revenge, but then there’s one little hiccup that throws it all off, Avery. And the fact she’s a witness to what Aiden has done. He takes her home with him, planning to use her for leverage. Their relationship is rocky in the beginning to say the least. Then Avery starts to get under his skin. But how could Avery possibly form an attraction to the man who has stolen her life from her?

Aiden finally lets Avery in on her family’s dark past and horrifying secrets. She somewhat justifies what Aiden has done and she forms a deep need for him. The same goes for him. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. Two people who should never work given the circumstances, constantly fought their attraction until they just couldn’t anymore. Avery completely submits to Aiden, but he submits to her as well. Aiden loses his control when it comes to her.

Avery is the light the Aiden’s darkness.

Aiden reveals the part of his plans he needs Avery to facilitate and she’s not on board at all. To the point where she leaves him, breaking her promise. And Aiden lets her go. Of course, we, the readers, are not privy to Aiden’s plan at the end of this book!! But hopefully we can get out answers in Sacrifice.
