Ripped through this one! Didn't know too much about it coming in and was pleasantly surprised by the world building, characters, and pacing. I don't normally read a lot of fantasy but this was definitely fun and engaging. Will be picking up the next book!

If I could give this book 10/5 stars I would, that’s how good it is!! My favorite series and fantasy book by far! If I could I would read this every day for the rest of my life!! Ahhhhhh I just love it so much! Great enemies to lovers trope for those who like that!

i personally don’t really like the way that tamlin was literally choking feyre and then like two days later they were in love but to each their own i guess. i read throne of glass a long time ago, but i remember dorian being just the worst and people really liking him. so maybe it’s just a theme that miss maas makes her main female character fall in love with the most abusive man in the book stockholm syndrome style. and my “i’ll be damned if a MAN treats me like that” ass just doesn’t like that aspect of her books. that being said, this is one of the few fantasies i’ve read that i’ve mostly enjoyed. was it the beauty and the beast plot? possibly. will i be reading on? probably.

I have been on a fantasy reading break for a couple of years, because I'd just had enough of weak heroines or worse the inspiring ones that turned absolutely useless the second a man entered the story.

I started reading this with an open mind and hoping for the best, because whenever I asked, I was told I wouldn't be disappointed.

But I was. I liked the world building part and that was about it. The characters were predictable, flat and boring. The villain was the most interesting character, but even she was a caricature and just ridiculous. The riddle and the trials she made Feyre go through were just stupid. Why would she risk everything on that obvious riddle, that a small child could have worked out. Why?!

Feyre was so disappointing, but I kept hoping she would eventually turn into the heroine I wanted, despite her being annoyingly dim-witted. But then she got turned into a high fae, and that's when I almost threw the book out the window. No, absolutely no! Being human and flawed was what made her special, made her relatable-ish.

I could honestly go on about the issues with this novel. But I feel like I've already made myself a living target for everyone who loves this book. 😅

Somehow I have been talked into reading the next book, because that's the good one...? I promise I'll stay optimistic and give it a fair chance. But it better blow me away!
