Hilarious and cynical at the same time...how does she do that?

God. Damn. It. Isabel.

I was wondering why Isabel didn't run background checks on the missing women and/or the men married to them (I actually have already forgotten if she did check on the men or not). I had my suspicions what Brown was doing after the second missing lady and for a person who wants to know everything about everyone, it really bugged me that it never occurred to her to look further into their history. What the heck. But I guess everyone gets blinkered every now and again.

I honestly didn't think I'd even read the second instalment, but I was curious if the second book was kind of as ridiculous as the first and it was. Maybe even a bit more so. And somehow the Spellmans have grown on me... I actually am looking forward to read the third instalment.

Humor
Initial impressions: trite, poorly written TV sit-com style!
Not for me. No interest.

Another great installment of the Spellman books. I loved the first one and couldn't put it down, so I picked up this one and read every chance I got. The Spellmans are a delightfully off-beat family as they constantly use their PI skills to not only solve mysteries, but spy on each other. Very funny and good mysteries that keep you wondering throughout the book.

Another frenetic, wisecrack-a-minute outing for Isabel Spellman and her family of PIs. I actually liked this book even better than book 1 - amid all the quirky lists and the multiple subplots and the epic levels of family dysfunction it had an underpinning of genuine sweetness to it - not overpowering but something that popped up every fifty pages or so. I finished it feeling very affectionate towards the family and Isabel in particular.

This book was really good. I enjoyed Isabel's perspective and quirkiness as much as I did in the first novel, and it was pretty well-paced. I would say that the action was sometimes repetitive and I wanted the story to move a little faster sometimes. I think it was a little slow because I was already pretty familiar with the characters, so the constant over-explanation was a little annoying. I also had some trouble with the footnotes. My kindle is a little old so it doesn't enjoy switching screens that often, so I experienced quite a few glitches, but that's of no fault to the author.
