Chuck Palahniuk writes like nobody else. He layers in running gags and recurring sentence structures and themes that will not connect until they clatter like a thousand rose-painted dinner plates into the last 100 pages. Every time I am convinced at the same time as the main character that they need to die to fix their problems and every time they find a way to prove they shouldn’t. This book is Palahniuk at his best.

Lullaby is a thought provoking, darkly comedic novel about power. What would you do if you had the power to kill anyone just by reciting the lines of a poem? While researching SIDS crib deaths, the protaganist of this novel discovers an ancient culling song that kills the listener. I enjoyed the dark humor of this novel and also that it made me think about things like power and the influence of the media on society.
