Angels' Dance is also published as a single title.

If you have been reading the Guild Hunter series then you have caught glimpses of Galen and Jessamy, but in this novella, they shine.

I have been wanting their backstory for sometime. Galen is one of Raphael’s Seven. We get glimpses into him and what he does, but here we find out their is so much more to him. I loved Galen. He’s fierce, loyal, protective, and honorable. Jessamy is the teacher of angelic young, a library, and the keeper of angelic knowledge/archives. She’s fragile, strong willed, and has a strong heart.

Reading about these two was exquisite. They matched perfectly. The sexual tension was amazing. The writing is magnificent. The scenes are so vivd bring the characters and world to life.

Angels’ Dance was a beautiful crafted novella. I loved everything about this one.

Edit: changed my rating from 4.5 stars to 5 stars because I look back on this novella way too fondly to have it at 4.5 stars.

"Dance with me, Galen."

I was done for with that scene. And then chapter 15,with all the letters and the sweet sweet words. I don't think my heart could swell with love any more.

I honestly enjoyed this novella so so much. I was constantly reading when I wasn't doing chores. I just love both Jessamy and Galen as characters, love the way they both grew and had to work through internal struggles to get to where they ended up. Their courtship was just so heartwarmingly amazing, although it was definitely bittersweet at times, for example, I wanted Jessamy to fight for her angel but I understand why she made the choice she made. Made me take off a half star though, because I was so disappointed when I read it and it took me a while to get over it. But it made everything that came afterwards that much sweeter.

The side characters in this one were great as well. I feel like Jessamy made me see a different side to Raphael, constantly reminding us of the boy he had been instead of the lethal archangel we meet in Blood. Also, it won't be a surprise when I say I loved loved loved the amount of scenes we got graced with Bluebells presence

With Galen being all macho and deciding he won't give a choice to Jess in the matter, I was all set to hate him, but then he came through for the woman he loves. If loving her, seeing her happy meant she was someone else's, he was ready to make that sacrifice. That earned him my love.

Seeing that Jessamy is 2600+ years old in the story, let's just say that true loves takes its sweet time to knock at the door.

A sweet romance with a little thrill of who dun it.

You may have noticed that I changed the ratings of all the other short stories to 3 stars; while I enjoyed them all, I didn't think it was fair because they are short stories in comparison to long novels.

This tale killed me. Quite a long short story, the content is amazing, and the last few chapters feature some of the best writing overall in this series. My heart breaks for Illium, forever one of my favourites. Jessamy and Galen's first meeting is an intense thing, as they both struggle with inner demons and their unspoken desire for each other. Although it takes time, they learn to trust one another, and that it is okay to be heartbroken sometimes.

Very hot prequel to the Guild Hunter series. Ever wonder why Illium's nickname is Bluebell? You'll find out in Angels' Dance ;)

Angels' Dance
4.5 Stars

Jessamy, Angel-kind's gentle and vulnerable historian and teacher, has lived her entire life in self-imposed exile at the Refuge. Born with a deformed wing, Jessamy will never fly and although she has come to terms with her life, she yearns to broaden her horizons. When Galen, Raphael’s new weapons master, arrives at the Refuge, he causes quite a stir. The brutish and blunt yet beautiful angel awakens in Jessamy a deep longing for all she has been denied, and Galen is determined to provide all of her heart's desires …

Series note: This novella is a prequel and it is best to read Angels’ Blood and Archangel’s Kiss first in order to understand some of the backstory. Readers who begin the series here may be lost and confused.

Jessamy and Galen’s opposites attract romance is so heartwarming and their chemistry is off the charts. They complement each other so well and provide everything that the other is missing. Galen is emotionally starved and Jessamy gives him the warmth and the love that he yearns for while Jessamy is physically impaired and Galen gives her the sky.

The minor suspense plot adds another nuance to their relationship as well as some interesting detail about the other Archangels as well as the background on some of Raphael’s Seven.

In sum, a captivating romance and a must read for fans of Singh’s Guild Hunter series, but it must be read after the first two or three installments.

Longer than the other novellas, and romance wise it was my favourite. I can’t wait to actually start this series but due to the fact I was lazy this year and spent at times weeks not reading, I’m very behind on my reading so I’m just going to catch up on all my novella prequels before the end of the year.

Jessamy and Galen. Love where 2 beings aren’t completely perfect physically is so refreshing. It’s a novella, but not instant love which is a rare thing in the romance world. Thoroughly enjoyed this and want to read the rest of the series.
