Oh wee! Now that's what you call a book hangover! I have loved The Sainthood series but as expected, this duet is now included on my top fave series from this author. Talk about twists and turns, this book baby got it. I swear my head is spinning and I feel like I couldn't take a break from all the twists this author had me in and its characters. Not complaining at all because I live for those dramas. The tensions are at all-time high, and the story had me sitting at the edge of my seat. I loved Ashley's character. She is my soul sister with her sassy comebacks and gritty personality. The boys are perfectly flawed and suited Ash's personality. Ares though, my lawd, he is giving me a whiplash! His hot and cold behavior leaves me hot, bothered and confused, LOL! The cliffhanger, omg, literally stole my breath. I don't think I can wait until November, I need book 2 right now!

Another day, another Siobhan Davis book that has left my mind absolutely reeling! She has once again weaved a spectacular tale that had me riveted. I never would’ve guessed the story that lay within the pages, per usual Siobhan has blown my mind. I was hanging on the edge of my seat. There was so many shocking secrets and twists I couldn’t even think straight.

Ashley Shaw’s world is turned completely upside down. Everything she knew, everyone she knew is now in question including her loves Jase and Chad and her annoyingly sexy stepbrother Ares. Secrets, lies, hidden agendas, there’s so much to unpack with this group and I’ve only grasped the surface.

This is one of those books where I can only say so much without giving the goods away. But, let me tell you, this is an experience you do not want to miss! If you’re looking for a book that will have you completely immersed into its world unable to walk away, this is a must read for you.

It is sizzling freaking hawt. It is dark and truly twisted, quite possibly Siobhan’s darkest yet. She did not hold back a single thing with this one. And if you know Siobhan Davis, you know she’s just getting started because this is only the first book. I already know the path she’s going to take me on will only get crazier and I’m equal parts ready and afraid. Dirty Crazy Bad had me hooked on every single deliciously sinful word and I need that next book like yesterday.

4.5 for story and narration.

For the story, I was not sure what to expect. But, wow. There were so many twists and a whole lot of drama. Ashley was a great character, for the most part. She didn’t lie or hide things from her boyfriends, and she always tried to take the higher road. While she wasn’t always innocent, she did come clean. Jase and Chad were both protective, but they both lied to her. Man, towards the end, they made me so mad. I just. Ugh. Ares….damn, he was c*cky and an a**hole. In the beginning, he was so unlikable, but he slowly changed throughout his the story. He has some secret past, so I hope it’s revealed in book two! Also, this ended on a cliffhanger, so I’m even more anxious to get to the next book! Also, one of the side characters, Julia, was the worst. I absolutely hated her.

This book is dark with many twists, drama, a secret society, and ends on a cliffhanger. I’m even more anxious to get to the next book!

The narration was great, but I couldn’t really differentiate between Jase and Chad. So sometimes, I forgot whose POV it was. Other than that, it was great. I could really feel all the emotions the characters were going through.

Note: This is a dark romance and contains themes that may not be suitable for everyone.

Siobhan is one of my favorites bc there’s so much in her storytelling.
This book was just everything! Some of it makes u wanna cringe but other parts have you in knots, twisting, and turning.

Although it’s not really realistic at times I found it to be captivating. The characters were great but in general I had a love hate relationship with not only the characters but book itself.

So some spoilers ahead, so if you’re someone who wants to know what/who some of the triggers involve (because I couldn’t find more details from the authors website), keep reading.
First off, our FMC is sexually assaulted by one of the MMC’s/love interests in the first chapters of the book; this whole encounter is also retold around 80% into the book. He pretends to be one of the other love interests by dressing & smelling like him and approaches the FMC in a dark bedroom where she assumes he’s a different person. She realizes it’s a different character (her step brother/MMC) in the middle of the act and tries to fight back. At some points he restrains her and he doesn’t listen to her when she tells him to stop. She says no and fights back how she can. To make this even more violating, the MMC is recording this to get back at her for stupid reasons and to ruin her relationship with one of the other MMC’s.
Additionally, about part way through the book, this same MMC assaults her in the shower by using his fingers.
Now for my review of these particular interactions- at no point of the FMC or other characters say or recognize that site was sexually assaulted by this character. It’s baffling to say the least. The author tries to play it off that it’s not SA because she secretly thinks this character is hot, but all her interactions with him otherwise are fighting and really hating him, and him forcing sexual acts on her. At one point, as her boyfriend is leaving her because she “told him what I had done,” even to go as far as saying she “f7c*** him last night,” When in reality she was assaulted. For this reason alone I down rated the book, which feels crappy because I normally really enjoy this authors books.

Our FMC is also SA’d by Jase’s older brother during initiation ceremony in front of all the secret society leaders & their families. It was going to be his father but the brother stepped in to apparently try and make it the least traumatizing for her?

She also catches Jase in the act with someone else, which he explains is part of his family’s job in the secret society, and that god siblings have to/are doing the same thing. He’s in no way apologetic about it and obviously gets mad at her that she doesn’t understand this is what he has to do. She later finds out he wasn’t actually cheating on her, but faking it so she would hate him and he could keep her safe.

The ending also has one of the MMC’s being SA’d which continues onto the next book. At least with this one they acknowledged it’s SA.

I was really excited for this series when I found out it was happening, but the reality was disappointing. I enjoy dark romance typically, but this just didn’t sit well, and I think a large part of it was the fact that all these things happened to the FMC and weren’t really acknowledged appropriately. And the MMC’s were all bad at communicating, it was like one big miscommunication trope.

This book has a lot that is hard to swallow as a reader... If you don't want to be spoiled you should skip this review.

The opening prologue basically has the FMC being raped, but later she says she didn't try hard enough to stop it because she was admittedly into it, but the person disguises himself as someone else and when she figured out who he is she fights him and tells him to go and he doesn't listen and basically rapes her. So that is how to book opens. Then you are thrust backwards in time and you work your way back to the prologue moment which is REPEATED WORD FOR WORD I think in the chapter later on, which is also annoying.

I found the Ares character hard to swallow, just way to over the top, and I found all the luminary stuff not overly interesting. Lots of sexy time which is nice but the plot definitely was not my cup of tea. Despite this though I have continued on with the series. I'm hoping it's just the next book and then it's done, I don't think I could invest any more time than that.
