Elliott Rose is an absolutely incredible author! If you liked Vengeful Gods, you will love Macabre Gods! Her writing is so intentional, thought-out, addictive and soulfully sinful. She has really cracked the code on Dark Romance in my opinion (But realistically everything Elliott Rose has written is insanely well done!)

I have been waiting since the release of Vengeful Gods for Poe's story, and I was not disappointed; The characters, dynamics, spicy scenes and plot line were written so incredibly well, and with characters that understand complex dynamics, traumas and personal relationships!

10/10 would recommend!

Thank you Elliot for the ARC🤍🤍
This dark and twisted why choose was absolutely delicious and I want more of Poe, Angel, Grey, and Hawk.

If you in enjoyed Vengeful Gods, I have no doubt in my mind that you will enjoy this one too. Angel spoke zero words in this book but dare I say, I think I liked him the most. Paisley and her men were a steamy read and every time I come back to Port Macabre I get so caught up in the vivid world Elliott Rose creates that I never want to leave.

welcome back to Port Macabre, loves 😍

Elliott Rose does it again.

This book jumps RIGHT ON INTO IT!

From the suspense to the smut to the down right filthy men🥵

I highly suggest reading the prequel novella, Noir Moon, where Poe meets her 3 deliciously masked men. Macabre Gods is the tale of what Posey has to endure while learning the ways of this secret society.

This dark romance has heart shattering moments at the hands of The Anguis through learning about the boys history and what our girl Poe goes through.

The fiercely possessiveness that radiates off of her moments with Angel, Grey, and Hawke will have you swooning and fanning yourself 🥵

hands down my favourite series by Elliott!

Sinister, Seductive, and Utterly Addictive

Elliott Rose delivers another darkly compelling story that pulls you deep into the twisted underbelly of the Anguis. If you love morally grey characters, intense power struggles, and sizzling tension, this book will have you hooked from the start.

At the heart of it is Poe, a heroine who refuses to break despite being forced into a dangerous world where trust is a luxury she can’t afford.
Then there are her three captors—Angel, the brooding, soft-spoken protector; Grey, the unhinged, possessive mastermind with a filthy mouth; and Hawke, the one with a rigid sense of justice who thrives in control.
These four together are the perfect mix for the perfect “why-choose” dark romance. Angel especially has my heart. I loved his character and I wish I could have more of him 🤍

The plot is gripping, laced with secrets and unexpected turns, but I did find some moments a bit tricky to follow, which slightly took away from the experience. That said, the tension never lets up, and the push-and-pull between Poe and her captors keeps you on edge the entire time.

And the spice…my god, the spice in this book was PERFECT. Not joking, it was majestic and I love every single letter of it. My personal fave was Hawke, but because I love men who want to be in control 👀

Before diving in, be sure to read the trigger warnings.
This book explores dark themes, and while that makes for an intense and thrilling read, it won’t be for everyone. Also, Noire Moon, the prequel novella, provides helpful backstory on the key players and adds depth to the main storyline. So I recommend reading that one first, especially because it’s an incredible book!

Overall, this is a dark, steamy, and intricately layered story that will keep you hooked.
If you enjoy high-stakes power plays, dangerous attraction, and an FMC who refuses to be a pawn, this one is definitely worth the read.

Elliott Rose continues to bat 100 for me bc she knocked this second book in the Port Macabre world out of the park. Not only was the spice spicin, but the plot also kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I feel like why chooses could have the potential to become repetitive but Elliott Rose does an amazing job of making each scene with all the MMC’s a unique experience. Every encounter feels like you’re uncovering something new about each character. I loved Poe, Hawke, and Grey so much but Angel has a special place reserved in my heart. That is my man, my man, my man. He is a ruthlessly protective man while also being the most heartsick, tender loving, human. The true epitome of gentle giant when it came to Poe. I won’t get into too much detail about Grey and Hawke bc honestly you just really need to read this book for yourself to get the full effect of these men.

This book centers around the underground secret society of Anguis. Poe, the FMC of this book, is taken and immersed into this underground secret society. Despite the trauma she experienced at the hands of evil within the Anguis, she managed to find the strength to come into her own and find an unbreakable kind of love with the Angel, Grey and Hawke. Each of the male main characters equally grew to be obsessed with Poe as well and wanted to protect her at all costs. Even though there are a lot of darker and heavier themes in this book, I love that we get to see the love blossom between the MMC’s and that they get their HEA. This book was such a good time and the ending almost had me spiraling but Elliott really brought it all back together really nicely. Poe, Angel, Grey and Hawke are what spicy dreams are made of.

O!M!G! What a wild ride there towards the end! Phew! I really enjoyed Macabre Gods and can’t recommend it enough. Although there are some DARK moments, so definitely check out the TWs and determine if this is the book for you.

There were some overlapping themes with Vengeful Gods that I wasn’t wholly pleased about - just some tactics within the group that were reused and similar hesitations/motivations that felt recycled. But other than those few things, it was still a very different storyline and introduction to the secret society in Port Macabre.

I was also convinced throughout most of this book, that it should have come before Vengeful Gods, because chronologically, it takes place first. BUT don’t question things like I did - there is a method to the madness. There was a reveal at the end of this book that I think would’ve given some stuff away in Vengeful Gods, so follow the reading order and all will be well! Except I cannot believe I have to wait some unknown amount of time for the next book! Gah! I need to know where this is all headed!

I absolutely adored these men: Hawke, Grey, and Angel. They are all big softies but only when it comes to Poe, and how freaking cute is that?! They all have very tragic backstories but together, they’re able to find solace and comfort and acceptance and love and I was squealing with all that delicious character development! The spice was once again on point - I’m not sure Elliott Rose could write bad spice! I definitely need some additional epilogues like we got with Fox and her guys because I’m not ready to move on - I need some closure!

Macabre Gods is 600 pages of angst, tension, dirty talking filth, and a beautiful love story.   This book continues where the novella, Noire Moon ends.  The emotional roller coaster that Poe experiences while navigating her new life in a secret society is intense, and I was along for the ride.  Four broken souls finding love in the most unlikely of situations.   The smut and dirty talking was top tier- and I would expect nothing less from Elliott Rose!  💀💀👑💀
