Macabre Gods

Plot:
Posey thinks she just signed up for a night of fun with three masked strangers but little did she know she was entering the world of The Anguis. A secret society for the worldโ€™s most powerful elite to play god.

Angeles, Grey, and Hawke are tasked with preparing her for her new role. They know they shouldnโ€™t, but they canโ€™t fight the pull any longer. And all three of them call to parts of her she didnโ€™t even know existed ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

What to expect:
  • Dark romance
  • Why choose (MMFM)
  • Forced prox
  • Bd$m
  • Primal
  • Somno

This book was such a mix of suspenseful plot and habanero-level heat I didnโ€™t know what to do with myself ๐Ÿ˜† and I was lowkey shocked because I also read one of the most beautiful confessions of love in a book โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

If youโ€™re looking for high spice, this could be it ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคญ There were times where I felt like the plot could have moved a bit faster in terms of the mystery elements. And Iโ€™m so curious about the secret society world, I was hoping to learn more about it.

If youโ€™re looking for high spice, this could be it ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคญ

Another fantastic book from Elliott.. the depth of each character and the world building is incredible..

Posey Reed, who goes by Poe, was invited to an exclusive sex club at Noir House. She met three men and had the experience of her life. Its been months since she heard from them when she is contacted out of the blue by someone who is pretending to be apart of the night at Noir House and is drugged and kidnapped by people pretending to be those three men. While in Captivity; she is terrified but was rescued by Hawke, Grey and Angel. Her three skull mask wearing men. They help her get to safety and help her through withdrawals from the drugs her captors had her on. Sheโ€™s living with the guys and starting to get to know them. They begin to introduce her into the world sheโ€™s being initiated into.

Can she really take on the role she was brought into the fold for? What will happen with Grey, Hawke, and Angel? What does the future hold for Poe and the guys?

I'm torn. Elliott Rose is an incredibly talented author who's writing style makes it easy to read a story. However, this story fell flat to me when it came to emotional development. The characters are great as individuals and I definitely believed their sexual chemistry. Unfortunately we're told about the emotional development and not shown. The steamy scenes were wellwritten, but I felt myself longing for more depth outside of those.

The Anguis still remain a huge mystery and it boggled my mind that Poe wasn't the least bit curious about how her family history tied into it or how all of it worked, period. She's a sweet girl, but as a lead, I found her a bit boring.

Elliott Rose has done it again. Phenomenally crafted, this girl is thicccc but did not read like it. If I didn't have to drive home from work, I would have devoured it in one sitting.

Back in Port Macabre, we are treated to the pleasure wrapped torture that is getting to know Poe and her men.
So beautifully written, my heart broke time and time again, but was mended just as easily.

The spice was SPICING. Seriously, if you don't like steamy 4ways, this book is probably not for you ๐Ÿคฃ

This was such an easy 5 stars, there was not a single thing to dislike. Loved it and will likely reread in the near future.

dark emotional

Okay, wow, where do I even start with this one? This book takes you deep into a world of power, control, and pleasure in a way that makes your heart race and your jaw drop at the same time.

First off, Hawke, Angel, and Grey are EVERYTHING. Each of them brings something different to the table, and together they make one hell of a trio. Angel is all about obsession and speaks without words. Grey is violent, but in a way that makes you want to be on his good side. And Hawke? Heโ€™s the one who runs the show. Dominant, intense, and trust me, he knows how to treat his girl ๐Ÿ˜ And seriously, every single time he's there, it's like boom, my heart skips a beat.

Thereโ€™s a lot of trust-building, especially in a dark world like this where lines are crossed in the most deliciously twisted ways. I loved seeing the evolution of their connectionโ€”it wasnโ€™t just smut for the sake of it; it was about power, control, and slowly unraveling each of their personal layers. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This is a dark romance through and through. If youโ€™re into secret societies, forced proximity, and kinks, this is definitely for you. Thereโ€™s a lot of heaviness in the themes, but I loved how the characters balanced it with their growing connection and moral compass that kept me invested in their journey.

This right hereโ€ฆโ€ฆ.for all those dark romance RH book loversโ€ฆ.. This may very well be one of my most favorite book series. Masked men who make it their mission to consume you. Hawke, Angel, and Grey are walking red flags but you canโ€™t get enough. The spice is exquisite. The relationships complicated. This book can be read as a standalone but reading Noire Moon, the novella, is recommended. There are references to the novella all throughout the beginning of Macabre Gods. And as Poe references those scenes, I had flashbacks right along with her.

An amazing why choose dark romance. There is some dark content but the love stories give it some light.
The MMCs are damaged and trying to learn to live life all together.
Hawke is a take charge DOM, Grey would do anything to get the answers he is seeking (anything), Angel is more the strong silent protector.

I loved the combination of all the relationships developing in this story. It keeps you engaged and not wanting to put the book down.

First things first I did receive this as an ARC from Elliott Rose

I love love love the Port Macabre series and was so excited to get Poe and her men's story. Poe was an amazing MFC and i loved her so much! After meeting her in Vengeful Gods, I knew I wanted her story so badly and prayed and prayed to get it and it happened! I loved the expansion onto the world of the Anguis and to get a different perspective of someone being initiated rather than born into that world. I also really loved having many chapters from the male perspective rather than just having a majority of it from the Poe's perspective and a couple chapters in either Hawke, Grey or Angel's perspective.

My huge problem with this though was the pacing. It felt like it was dragging along in the middle with the same thing happening in almost every chapter, in my opinion, before finally picking back up. I also felt the ending was rushed slightly. As i was reading I was like 'how are there still 5 chapter's left what more is there?' and then getting that big event, that's been hinted at and knew it was coming since I read vengeful gods first, in one chapter felt kind of like a let down to me. I was just sitting there after reading it like 'oh that's it? okay.'
