This I really different than what I usually read, but I unexpectedly really liked it! It was sad but also I liked how it talked about our relationships with one another and how they last even with distance. The main POV being from the was unexpected, slightly confusing at first but in the end I liked it. I found the lack of communication between characters quite frustrating at times, but still really recommend this book!

Easily a new top 5 read for me.
There's something about these introspective Cat books that just sits so perfectly right with me.
Told from the cat's point of view as he and his owner travel together in search of a new home for the cat, this book tells a story of loyalty, love, and loss all centered around the cat's perspective- this book will have any cat lover sobbing by the end of it.
I am in love. I will keep a special place on my shelf for this. The Travelling Cat Chronicles will hold a place in my reading journey for some years to come.
1000000/5 absolutely would recommend

This was such a touching story. We're told it's about a man, Satoru, going on a trip with his cat Nana, but we're not told why. The parts narrated by Nana are an absolute delight. You meet a lot of people along the way and you learn about how their lives intersected with Satoru's, getting to know them, and him, a little bit better every time.

The older men in this book, usually the fathers, tend to be rigid, stoic, and insensitive; these traits thankfully almost disappear in the younger generation of men, especially in Satoru, who is the sweetest man on the planet. A very bittersweet ending, with a little bit of a Studio Ghibli flair to it.

Beautiful, beautiful story that brought tears to my eyes at the end (very few books can do that). Now I want to go to Japan even more. ❤️

Really cute story very sad at the end but impactful

i fr haven’t picked up this book in MONTHS and the first 3 chapters (only 4 chapters total) were like wholesome, cat perspective, little adventures with his owner and what not! I DIDNT EXPECT IT TO DOUBLE WHAMMY TURN INTO THAT and oh wow. if you are a cat person… or love pets in any matter… this fr HURTS me. seeing things in the perspective of a cat, i got so attached and empathized a lot with this as i too have immense love for my cats.. and dawg… im so… wow

would rate a 4.5! idk why goodreads doesn’t have half ratings

3,5 stars? i expected this to be a story about physical journeys (road trips) and i guess it was, in a way, because nana and satoru kept moving from place to place, but BOY was i taken on an unexpected feel trip. there was a focus on emotional journeys, which i didn't initially expect, but definitely loved. the stories were incredibly touching and... real. i lost count of how many times i teared up lol. i wasn't the biggest fan of sugi and chikako's story, though, i didn't like chikako being reduced to The Love Interest. the translation was also, in my opinion, a bit unsatisfactory at times. overall, a very gentle and poignant little story about the joys and sorrows of life - love, loss, loyalty, friendship, growth, hope, and so on.
