Dnfed halfway through, I just couldn't bring myself to care.

I'm not the biggest fan of the writing, it goes so slow and at the same time it hops from one event to another so fast. It's basically just elio's full thoughts, which I didn't really liked. The writing was just weird to me and I had second hand embarassment multiple times.

I don't really like Elio, I did not enjoy reading his point of vue at all and as much as I tried to I just did not care what would happen. Homeboy is OBSESSED with Oliver to a point where I would have been concerned if I liked him.

I'll probably give the book another chance next year, but right now it's a no for me.

I went into this not knowing anything about it (other than it being queer fic). I assumed it would be YA as most queer fic I’ve read so far has been that vibe. Especially because I knew this was about young people. But… wow. It did not have that feeling about it whatsoever. The writing was hypnotic, intimate, addictive. I felt the whole time as though I was intruding on someone’s most private thoughts. I fucking loved it.

I felt so many things reading this book. GOD it made me feel. Physically as well as emotionally. At times anxiety - a tightness in my chest caused by grief and longing. Desire and regret swam together through my body. Fuck. I loved it.

Read it. It’s fucking beautiful.

Gorgeous writing about a love had and lost in youth and come back again in old age. The heat when the narrator talked about his love for the man who stayed in his room, in his home one summer who then became a part of him physically and emotionally was just palpable. There were some chapters/scenes that caught me by surprise because of how graphic they were (like
