This is a really good example of a very good concept with very poor execution. The overall 'point' of the novel is that it's a journey of working out who you really are; except that the main character is a selfish bitch who I have no sympathy for, the main love interest is a pretentious douchebag. For a novel that centers around the main character being an amnesiac it doesn't play a large part in the scheme of the book.
The only characters I found likeable were her best friend and her dad, even that only sometimes.

I loved reading a book about an orphan who hates being pitied. I read this book twice. The first time, I hated it. I didn't understand most of it and it was just weird. The second time, however was better. It is written in first person, simple past tense, so we have an idea of what Naomi thinks. There were three romances covered in the story which ...more
The story of Naomi, a teenage amnesiac, told in three parts. Sixteen year old Naomi fell, and lost her memory from the time she was twelve. She lost the memory of her parent's divorce, her current boyfriend, her friends, her life. It is very well-written, in first person, and the reader is allowed to discover the character of Naomi as she discovers herself--and gets to choose who she becomes.
I really liked the beginning and the end, the middle 50 pages or so was quite dark but generally a really awesome YA read. The premise was really interesting.
Fun book, a little too much teen romance for me to love it.
Books like these do not make me happy.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But Rachel, everything ends up happy and full of possibility in the end! How is that not great?!"
Well let me tell you.
I have trouble with these books filled with people who are genuinely not great people. If my mother cheated on my father, got pregnant and decided to abandon her whole family for a new one? I'd not be inclined to speak to her. I generally just take issue with the whole concept of familial upheaval and drama and terrible people.
And it isn't even that, but the fact that all these conflicts are presented in the beginning of the book means that the main character will be relatively over it by the end of the book--which I cannot sympathize or deal with.
Anyway, its hard to explain, but sometimes I just wish that the shit things people did in the beginning of books ended up still being shitty at the end. I loved this, I really did. It was funny and creative and so cute, but I knocked a star because honestly I HATE the predictability of all the conflicts. I don't feel happy upon finishing this book, I feel residual anger on behalf of Naomi, our main character.

Great book for YA - I thought some of it was overly dramatic but maybe that’s why it’s YA and perhaps would’ve appealed to me more if I was myself YA - lol
I enjoyed this book, but I didn't think it was AMAZING or anything. The audiobook narrator did a nice job and I found myself wanting to stay in my car to listen to the story (which is always a good sign).

This would probably be five stars, but unfortunately, some of the characters started to annoy me at the end and it was a little slow. Thus, it is more like 3.8. Without said problems, it would be much higher.
