The heroine irked me a couple times
-she an adult slapped her minor sister because she called her a slut when she was upset. There’s no resolution or apology and I think we are meant to dislike this tween for her attitude but like she’s upset about her parents and the favouritism
- she had a boyfriend I get he’s like “some jerky college guy” and it wasn’t meant to be serious but she broke up with him over the phone so casually after getting hot for the fae lol
- use of the word dude, a lot.
- was in denial or oblivious about things about herself
- “I can’t believe I want all 3 of them, does that make me the definition of a slut?”
- “what did you say to make the pizza guy afraid of me!?” She’s literally come storming out of the house with a gun and is chasing him
- threatening the fae kings with restraining orders and the police multiple times

It just felt like there was a bit of inconsistency in her character

Also I don’t know if the night king is meant to be a nod to Sara J Maas ACOTAR night king or it’s just a coincidence I’m noticing because I love those books so much but like Rhysand and Rydstrom both night kings, court of nightmares, he killed the father of the summer and winter king so they hate him, there’s an evil queen obsessed with trying to bang him, he has a bad reputation and just his attitude in general. Oh and There’s a warded cabin in the mountains.

But yeah, despite the stuff I didn’t like- I enjoyed the premise, the children and scenes in the bar.

Great twists and turns...

Loved this story. Eve and the three Fae Kings are fun and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes them in the next book.

I guess I’m finding I don’t like reverse harem romances. It’s nothing against the author I just haven’t found one I like

I couldn’t get past like 18% honestly so this is my review on what I did read. Okay.. so the main character, Evie, has just come home from college to watch her many siblings because her parents are missing. She doesn’t seem to care at all, and is very blasé about the whole thing. She’s rude to her siblings for no reason and the way she speaks to them is such a turn off, it made her really unlikeable. Evie also mentions having super hearing in the beginning of the book but doesn’t explain it at all and acts like that is perfectly normal for a human. On top of all that she’s apparently very spoiled and is very selfish. And the worst thing about this book, in my opinion, is the actual writing. The dialogue is awkward and unrealistic, and everyone conveniently has Evie up on a pedestal except for Safiya, her teenage sister who she slaps in the face for having feelings, and the two kings who show up after she, unrealistically, chases a nightling off with an umbrella and some air freshener. I don’t know if that was supposed to be funny but it ended up being cringe worthy to me.

Okay, so the dialogue between characters, once again, incredibly awkward and unrealistic. At one point her brother Emmett is defending her to Safiya, and it goes “Chill out, Saf,” Emmett said. “You crossed the line, and you aren’t Evie’s match. She can easily take you down. You think she drove away the monster and then faced off the two scary men without all those years of martial arts training?” This spot in the book made me cringe and I stopped reading here. the kids are all apparently more worried about berating Safiya or asking for martial arts training than they are about asking questions about the “monster”, the two weird men that popped up in their year or that Evie was three seconds away from ripping her clothes off and jumping 2 strangers who were mean to her? I’ve tried to read a few of the authors other books and they all seem to be written like this so I never end up finishing the books. It’s not my cup of tea, but I am disappointed because it was a good idea with not so good execution.

This was a hard one for me to rate. On one hand I enjoyed the characters and the plot and I’m super interested to see where it is going to go next. But on the other hand...I had several major issues with the world building. The main character seems completely shocked when magical creatures show up but she has been trained with magical weapons her whole life and she knows the location of an otherworld bar. Many things just didn’t add up for me, and others were just stated out of no where with little to no context given.

So this is about a 2.5 for me right now. I am def going to continue reading and I think the series will get better as the world expands but so far I like the other series by this author more. Great characters and I know the romance is going to be great in future books in the series so I think this one will only get better from here.
