Not very often I would rate books 5 stars but I enjoyed this one heavily. I love this whole primal type instincts/feelings that they have going on between the love interest. Misery is my favorite character ever. I love her humor and her inner dialogue. Almost all of the characters in here (except her father and Vania) are people that I would love to befriend in real life. The build up to the sex scenes are gradual which I really like about this book. They start off subtle with scents, then they get touchy, not so descriptive scenes till you reach the end where it's really descriptive and vulgar
(The Knot if ya know what I mean ;) ).
The world building is pretty good for Ali Hazelwood. From what I know, this is her first time writing a fantasy book and she did pretty great. I was invested in the plot, the lore, and the plot twists. It wasn't overly about sex and still had a good plot to it.

It's not the worst smut I have read and there's more books with more sex scenes throughout the whole entire book than this book does. It's reasonably placed I think.

Listen. There’s some issues I won’t lie, and things could’ve been better (like not info dumping at the end). But I ate this up so hard. I was hooked. The feeling I had whilst reading this, compared to when I was 12 reading cheesy fanfics, and for that reason alone: 5⭐️

Was hesitant about reading this book because as much as I am a huge fan Ali Hazelwood’s STEM series, fantasy stories are always more difficult to get into. The worldbuilding took a while to get used to but what I found the hardest to understand was all the political aspects of the story – which was actually a whole lot. By the end of the book, there were some parts I still didn’t fully comprehend so it felt a bit incomplete.

Lowe and Misery’s relationship development was cute but I hated how the focus was more around the Were-Vampyre-Human politics than the actual relationship. I understand the politics set the tone for the entire story but it’s just I don’t understand a whole lot of it.
