This one keeps growing on me. Read it twice for college. Liked it okay the first time, really enjoyed it the second. I had frequent debates with my friend over the philosophy and ethics of the monster and Victor that I really enjoyed, and the overall story has left a very positive impression on me. It's a dang-good book considering the age of the writer and the circumstances too.

There is a story within a story within a story within a story (this is a positive thing). I, modern reader that I am, thought that there was too much extra information- surely we didn’t need to know every aspect of Frankenstein’s youth. However, most of it followed interesting thought-threads in showing the different experiences of Frankenstein and his creation. I can see the different possibilities that were never able to be, and feel sadness and sympathy. Most is not for Frankenstein, although in fairness he didn’t know what book he was in.

I get it now… finally I understand! When people say that Frankenstein as a story has never been faithfully adapted to film and is superior and in every way to said film adaptations. I agree 100%! I’d say Shelly’s classic is the pinnacle if not the best of all classic horror. It broods with chilling descriptions of the creature, who honestly just wanted a friend, and its creator tormented by his own work. It’s a fascinating story that I hope to revisit again someday!

Honestly, I really didn't expect to enjoy this book. I was expecting a kind of boring classic that dragged on (courtesy of school), but instead, I got a book that I genuinely enjoyed.

To be honest, up until I read this book my only source of information for Frankenstein was Hotel Transvania. And I'm not even kidding.

Not to mention, the only reason I actually picked up this book is because some other book character said it was sad (Peta Lyre's rating normal). Let me just say, 'Frankenstein' is a lot more than sad, it taught me a lot about what's wrong and right, and a whole lot about the human species.

PS. Just a warning, Victor is a piece of trash & Adam is a cutie (he deserved so much more)
Anyway a solid 4/5. I genuinely enjoyed it and I hope you do too:)
