This whole novel feels like a fever dream, the main character even says so. As a chronically ill person, who often experiences fever dreams (I'm somewhat of an expert on the subject), I can't help but agree. Let's look at similarities:

1. Did this feel almost like a normal dream (fae characters, human girl who's REALLY good at painting, everyone's royal)? Yes.

2. Did it also feel just a bit weird (ugly glamours, blood = pretty flowers??)? Yes.

3. Was it still more on the fun dream side than the nightmare one? Yes. Will be able to tell friends & family about it.

4. Will I forget about it very soon? Yes.

Uses a lot of tropes, but if you like those tropes like I did it I’d perfectly charming. A great palate cleanser. Like Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries meets The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea.

The amount of times I was giggling and blushing throughout this book is actually insane. I thoroughly enjoyed An Enchantment of Ravens and had so much fun reading it. I definitely agree with my favorite booktuber, Caricanread, who says that this book is written like a fairytale. Truer words have never been spoken. The main part I enjoyed about this book was the romance. It was extremely fast-paced yet very believable and well done, which is a hard combination to achieve. Rook is the love of my life and Isobel made a wonderfully clever protagonist (and their chemistry is amazing as I said earlier)! All in all a wonderful book that I very much recommend!

In terms of sheer enjoyment of the storytelling, this 5 stars. But there's not quite enough explanation about the backstory of the fairfolk for me. Like I don't know how they become fairfolk- is it sexual reproduction? Humans turned into them?
And if none of them can really feel true human emotions, how can any of them fall in love with a human? And what happens to Aster or the hunter?
I think this needs to be a duology to fit the amount of answer I need. Isobel doesn't need to be 17 and I really wish she wasn't bc of the ending. She could be 21 or 22 and still be the exact same character.
