Audi0book edition

Found this pop up in my youtube home

This book doesn’t have a great world building, but it’s still entertaining because of how questionable our FMC’s morality is.

Kat is an assassin and a jaguar shifter. She was used to being collared until one day a mysterious man offered her an opportunity that changed her life.

In this book, Kat has a job to uncover a murder — not her usual rodeo. But after doing some digging, the case becomes more and more interesting. I have to say that the word ‘boring’ is a bit repetitive. THEN, when a terrible thing revealed, she complained and complained and complained. Tbh, I found myself annoyed by how much Kat thinks like a teenager.

In short, this book can entertain you to pass the time, but don't expect too much. I don’t really have anything to say other than that.

This was different

This story was quite different from what I expected but it was a good read. Enjoyed it and will definitely pick up the next one.

Murders, assassins and shifters.

I enjoyed this book and I'm excited to read the next. The last sentence was everything. I didn't understand why the reverse harem tag but I hope it makes sence in the next book.

I love the paranormal genre, I love shifters and I adore cats and this book here has everything included, so I had high expectations for it and certainly was not disappointed.

The concept of it was thought out well and the storyline was packing. It has a satisfying ending for the first part but also gives hints at what will come in the next books and it definitely sounds promising. It had some surprising plot twists in it and certainly does not back away from darker themes either so this is nothing for weak hearted people (although the fact that she is an assassin already gives some warnings as well of course).

Kat is a great protagonist. She has confidence and I like it a lot that she does her own thing. The best thing for me though, are the scenes in which she talks with the cats. It was certainly a cool idea of the author to get inspiration from real life cats because I could clearly see my own two kittens within some of them (actually practically all of them, when it came to the food discussion). But the discussions themselves were thought out greatly as well because I can imagine that would be the exact way cats would think if they could speak.

Another big plus is the fact that the romance(s) will take their time. We get the two guys already (if my guess about the second one is right) but since this is a series, nothing much has happened yet and this is honestly great. The focus lies on the storyline and the introduction of the characters so far and nothing seems rushed that way. I’m looking forward to how these stories will play out though.

In conclusion, I can say, that the book is a clear recommendation from my side. It has everything I like in a paranormal book and it was thought out implemented really well. I will definitely read more of this series. Therefore, this book gets well deserved five stars from my side.

Another book which doesn’t come to a proper conclusion (even for a book in a series). Just leaves so many things unanswered

I DNF'd this one at 33% or so.

Unfortunately this one wasn't working for me. I really liked the first chapter and it made me excited for the story, but after that it lost my attention. The main character gets an investigation where she isn't interested in and that shows, it made it hard for me to get interested in it either. The whole investigation storyline just felt flat. I did like the part with the cats. I didn't find the main character likeable or interesting, she seemed to enjoy killing people (although we don't see any killings yet luckily), was a bit of a cat and had some behaviors and there are a lot of things she doesn't find interesting. I didn't really warm up her and realized I wasn't invested at all in what would happen next. So putting this one aside now.

Meow is definitely a niche book. The problem is how to pigeon-hole it. It's dark and it's not. The subtitle "Catnip Assassins" heralds the gore that's about to come forth and then doesn't deliver. It's a mystery that's more an enigma than mysterious. It revolves around cats, but not really. The main character is the most sociable anti-social person I've ever met both in books and real life.

All of the above notes make it sound like I didn't enjoy the book, which I did. I wished there had been more. More plot, more character development, more pages. Perhaps that will come about in the second book which should also hopefully tie up the teaser.

It was okay and to be honest, after the prologue, I thought I had found another great read. However, the further I got into the story, the more bored I became. Many things were predictable and some things didn't make much sense. I didn't care too much about the resolution of the case. Maybe it's just not for me.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
