What is this brothel obsession?? Why is this older man pining after a young girl he doesn't know? And am I really supposed to think Holden is so righteous and respectable when he dreams of sexually assaulting someone? So much for modernizing sci-fi

What ruined this book for me is the lack of interesting or compelling characters. The author uses the idealistic idiot and jaded detective tropes to animate his two heroes, and that's pretty much it in terms of characterization. There are only two real female characters - one of them is increasingly sexualized throughout the book and ends up being reduced to Main Character's Girlfriend by the end. The other also starts out interesting but ends up becoming Other Main Character's Maiden in Distress.
In spite of the insipid characters, who would have killed any other book, I'm giving it 3 stars. The author was ambitious and creative in his world-building, and the mystery that drives the plot was compelling. His attention to detail and wonderful prose made Leviathan Wakes an enjoyable read when I wasn't secretly hoping all the characters would die.

Esta cool, onda similar a blade runner, con cosas de Star Wars (aunque mucho más adulto), esta bien pero no se si me terminaré la serie.

Awesome space saga. I liked that it was gritty and blue collar instead of slick and polished, and that the main characters were underachievers in the wrong place at a pivotal time instead of grand champions on high-minded quests. Plus, some genuinely good horror added to the mix. Can't wait for the next book.

Leviathan Wakes’s ultimate lesson appears to be “don’t go to Venus” which, I’ll be honest, I already knew.
