Thank you to Random House - Ballentine | Dell and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I’m honestly not sure where to begin on how much I loved this book. I could tell from the first chapter that the writing was going to be fantastic. I was immediately pulled in and interested in the story. I wanted to learn more about Sadie and how she ended up in Texas.
One of my favorite things about this story is the way the D&D campaign is interwoven in with the “IRL” story. Lenora captures the (literal and figurative) magic of playing D&D SO well. Seeing the way the players developed their relationships at the table, combined with their characters developing relationships in-story was a blast. Not to mention, I LOVED the campaign story! It was just as fun and compelling as the story outside the campaign!
I could not get enough of Noah. He is a living, breathing green flag of a golden retriever MMC. The way he was so content being himself was attractive enough in itself, but seeing how he allowed Sadie to relax into herself was also beautiful. He believed in her before she did and he let her realize how valuable she is on her own time in her own way. Also - we love a Consent King!
This was a slow burn, which was DELICIOUS. The maybes and almosts and interruptions had me kicking my feet. When the fire finally does catch, it is HOT. I’ve never wanted to hear a man say “please” more in my life.
Sadie’s character development was fantastic. Her journey of self-discovery and self-love was so relatable. I was happy that she got an HEA after she realized that she was happy on her own. It made it all the more sweet.
I will be screaming about this book until the end of time.

4.5/5 absolutely loved every second of this book!
I read this as an ARC from NetGalley. This book is set to be released July 15,2025!!
This is a fun loving romcom set in a small town in Texas. We follow our 2 main characters Sadie and Noah. Noah is a free spirited bar tender who never stays in one place for to long. Sadie is a girl who has had her whole life planned out since she was a kid and she has followed that plan to the letter. When Sadie loses her marketing job in New York her friend Liam invites her to stay with him in Texas. Sadie gets roped into a D&D campaign that Liam is running and starts to slowly make friends.
This book is told in 2 different settings. Setting one is the story being told in the timeline of the characters. The second setting is in character in the D&D campaign. So instead of being told what the characters say it unfolds before us in this whimsical, magical tale as if they are real people. You see the 2 main characters fall for each other in game and outside the game.
I appreciated the low level of spice in this novel. There was 1 small spice scene and 1 full spice scene in the whole book and it did not even happen until 80% of the way through the book. I loved every second of this book and could not get enough of the funny, relatable, real feeling characters in this book. Highly recommend and I will be picking this book up first thing on release day.

The cutest lil nerdy rom-com!! Just absolutely loved the writing and the dialogue. I loved how the author wove together Sadie & Noah’s real life romance with their own D&D love story. The D&D chapters were so unique and I can honestly say I’ve never read anything like it before. Some parts of the book felt slower than others, and I think the pacing can be worked on but overall I really enjoyed this rom-com.
Huge thanks to NetGalley & the publishers for this ARC!! I had such a good time and I hope to be approved in the future for more books from this author :)

Sadie was having trouble finding her footing after getting fired from her job. She accepted the invitation of her best friend to come visit while she decided what direction she wanted to go next. Spending time in a small town in Texas was very different from the life she had in New York City. Her friend, Liam, decided to add her to a group of friends he planned to bring into the world of Dungeons and Dragons. Sadie decided to give the game a try and meet some of Liam's friends. Liam also asked his new friend Noah, who had recently moved to town to help out at a friend's brewery. As they played the game, Sadie's and Noah's characters began to have a more than friendly interest in each other. That interest continued outside of the game as well.
I enjoyed reading Sadie and Noah's story. I have never played D & D, but my family has. The author created a very interesting world for the game within the story. I was intrigued by the details. All of the characters in the novel were well thought out and added to enrich the story. It was a lovely debut novel for Lenora Woods.
I received an e-ARC for Roll for Romance and want to thank Lenora Woods, Ballentine Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to voluntarily read and give an honest review of this book. Roll for Romance will be published on July 15, 2025.

Thanks to Ballantine/Dell Romance for the early copy! This book was unique in the way it had two stories being told about the romance between two people and the DnD characters! Though, the pacing was a little off for me in the beginning but it really started to hit it's stride around the middle. This story was cute, nerdy, cozy and often times, made me laugh out loud!

I’m not a D&D person, but this was still utterly charming. The way the author interspersed chapters of real life with chapters of the lushly built fantasy world of the game, and the way feelings and actions in the game carried back to real life (and vice versa) was wonderful. It made me wish I had the imagination and patience to try to play, but instead I’ll just hope she writes more like this so that I can live vicariously.
Excuse me as I SQUEALLLL about how cute this book was. Nat-20 stars for sure.
Lenora Woods does a wonderful job of building up the chemistry between the two leads, and I appreciate how they both are sunshine-y in their own ways. Sadie and Noah feel like people I would want to be friends with. I also LOVED the DnD campaign shown throughout; it is just as fleshed-out and dramatic as the actual romance, and it lowkey made me want to play DnD. The way DnD was referenced and helped Sadie take charge of her life was such a wonderful plot device. All of the side characters are super strong too (Liam's story in book 2? Please?)
I can't wait to see what more is in store from this author! Hopefully more beautiful stories with beautiful covers to match :)
Side note: I have never played DnD, I don't know much about it, but this was written in a super accessible way. Fans and newbies alike will appreciate this book and appreciate Jaylie's quest.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dell for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

As someone who has wanted to join a D&D campaign for years now, and is a huge Dimension 20 fan, this book was perfectly niche for me. Romance, but make it uber-nerdy? Put me in, coach. I got live out my campaign fantasies by reading Roll for Romance, as the author not only writes the love story between our MCs, but the actual campaign they play, as well.
I identified a lot with Sadie's quest on figuring out what she should do with her life, now that what she found her identity in (her job) is gone and she's left burnt out and questioning "what's next?" I am also a big lover of the found family trope, and this book had it in spades.
The pacing was a little slow at first and took me a minute to get into the book, but, nonetheless, RFR was a fun ride of a novel. A great debut for Lenora Woods; I hope she continues to write more books like this one!
