Quite a good read!

Miranda became subject to an abusive relationship with her husband. Even more so, when she became pregnant after being raped. She woke one morning to find that her husband had given the baby away without her knowledge and everything spirals out of control. A past she will never forget.

Ultimately, she becomes in possession of a letter from an adoption agency and goes in search for her missing daughter, only finding hurdles along the way. As she fights for answers, she somehow becomes involved in a murder case that she had nothing to do with, or does she?

Will she find her missing daughter, will her past catch up with her and who does she meet along the way?

A woman’s fight for freedom and answers.

This would have been a five star if it wasn’t for all the drooling and swooning rubbish. It’s a good story with a good plot and a few clever twists. I just really wish she hadn’t ruined it with all the yucky OTT romance author crap. Still if you do like me and skip those bits the story itself is pretty good. On the other hand if you like that romance retch fest sort of stuff as well as twisted thriller/ crime story’s then this is the book for you. Two for the price of one!

Before I started the book, I went through some of the reviews in GoodReads. They were mixed ones with some negative current underlying. But having liked the blurb of the book, I thought of going ahead with it anyway. And that happened to be a wonderful choice for me.

There is nothing not to love in this book. Miranda Steele is a very believable character. The things that she has gone through in her past has only motivated her to get stronger and bolder in her attitude towards life. The “Steele” she has in her is only further enforced by her incessant liking for very hot peppers. She gets the break of her life by getting noticed by Wade Parker, who is a PI. The attraction between them is natural and goes well with the story.

The story is wholly focused on Miranda, with Wade getting some POVs in between. The central female character gives the story a better feel. The male character is also written in such a way as to give enough importance to him but not having him overshadow Miranda. This gives a very woman-centric theme to the book, which makes it enthralling.

The actual murder on which the mystery is based is also nicely scripted, although at times I felt the author wants the readers to figure out the killer way before the final reveal. I could guess the killer about 60% into the book and was proved right at the end, albeit in a very surprising way.

Linsay is a wonderful writer. She added enough witty comments in the book to make the reader literally laugh out loud in certain situations, thereby ensuring the story does not turn boring or monotonous. Her style of writing ensures that you cannot keep the book down till you reach the very end. I am looking forward to more wonderful cases with Miranda and Wade. They make a wonderful couple and are in perfect sync to solve mysteries.

This book was recommended to me by a student. She finished the whole series in a matter of a week and a half, so I knew the story must be riveting. Miranda is searching for her biological daughter who was unknowingly put up for adoption thirteen years ago. In the midst of desperately following a possible lead, Miranda stumbles on a series of murders in a suburb of Atlanta. She also crosses paths with a detective, Wade Parker, who takes her under his wing in his detective agency after he witnesses her true potential. Miranda's grit and imperfections as a character are what set this book apart from other mysteries. I think many students would enjoy the mystery, humor, and action of this story.

Stubborn, pig headed characters who will do anything for those who have been beaten down or bullied. Both Miranda and Wade were like able characters who got under your skin and you just want everything to work out for them. Hopefully they can both let go of the past and see what the future will hold.

Someone Else’s Daughter was an engaging story that kept you wanting to read more. You could feel the characters desire to solve the mystery and find the killer. The interwoven lives of the other people in the story all came to a head and upset more than just one family. It’s a good reminder to check on your kids and see what they are looking at and how they are treated and how they treat others.

All women should have basic self defense knowledge because you never know what could happen. Just by thinking it can’t happen to me does not mean it won’t. Protect yourself and learn how to get away.

It will be great to see how Miranda handles staying in one place and what kind of relationships she develops over the long run.

It was a great read. I think it was a little predictable, as far as knowing the culprit, but the book was still enjoyable as you followed the main character.

This was the kind of book you pick up when you're wanting a quick mystery to read, the kind you take to the beach, knowing you'll have it finished by the time you're done laying out in the sun. There are some enjoyable parts to it and it was definitely readable, but I probably won't go searching for more in the series.

couldn't finish. hated Miranda too much, her toughness seemed fake.
