Utter schlock.
Forget your usual super-best-gorgeous-marysue-girl locked in a triangle!!!!
Nonono SHE IS dundundun covetted and adored by a host ooooooof quadruplets who have grown up with her since early childhood. They are a dragon shifter, a vampire, a fey and a magic user (wizard) and are the next generation of leaders in their community. yes yes its such a supernaturalishelished mystery that one couple bred 4 kiddies each of a different paranorm-type.
OH the best of all ALL OTHERS like centaurs, pixies etc are grouped in ONE CATEGORY...
as if the author /pff/ didnt give a flying fudge to glue herself from her quadrangle thing and at least add some more categories to the next-gen-leadership of her world.... meh what "world"... the quadrangle+evil bad wolfie antagonist and a baddy teacher ARE THE whole world...

OH MY GOODNESS.....bad bad bad

It’s a good book with an interesting story, but it’s not a PNR. Unless it’s a super slow burn with little indication of who she ends up with. I mean, I can guess, but am a little caught off guard that this is more an urban fantasy without romance than a pnr

Big, fat, disappointing DNF at 53% (the trudge began at 25%ish)

Here's the thing -- everything was too distant, I felt detached from the characters who were supposedly inseparably close and I found it boring! Reverse-harems like these can't really be classified as reverse harems because they're favourited (in this case, Braxton) and end in a singular couple, which I found it hard to believe in. I personally felt there wasn't nearly enough romantic action, the guys in the quad strangely distant -- there wasn't enough relationship building. I didn't connect and feel that they really would die for each other...

Disappointing really, given the shining reviews.

I'd say the ratio of romance to mystery/urban fantasy/adventure would be about 30% to 70%.

Second time read. First time review - I think?
Either way, I still ended up loving this book!

Dragon Marked is the first of the Supernatural Prison Series. I forgot how much I missed the compass boys - but hot damn, I did! Okay, so there's Jessa, who is a wolf shifter (aka the wolf princess) and her four best friends (the compass brothers) and uh.. she gets a whole lot of information dropped on her in one day.

1. Her mom is back.
2. She has a sister.
3. This sister isn't actually her younger sister.. but her twin.
4. HER DAD KNEW THE WHOLE FUCKING TIME!

Yeah, I probably would've freaked the freak out and shifted too. However, I also don't have four hot ass brothers looking out for me either. Of course, I was shipping the ship out of her and Braxton. Sorry boys, you were all cute and adorable but there can only be one for my girl Jessa. Plus I was shipping Max with Mischa. NOW Mischa was so annoying the second time around. She probably annoyed the shit out of me the first time I read this book.. but since I didn't write a review I will make it known now.. that she annoyed me.

The other brothers, Jake and Tyson are equally adorable and hot. However, I know that there is someone out there for them. It isn't Jessa but their friendship bond is what gives me life. I love how their friendship means more to them than anything. They are their own pack and I envied them. I want that!

Then of course this book delivers a good mystery and a couple of twists. I like how twins, triplets, or quadruplets.. are rare. I mean, in my eyes they seem rare. I just really liked how this book made them even rarer - especially in the shifter world.

I could probably go on and on about how much I loved this book but I wont. I need to move onto other book reviews.. and obviously, the second book of this series! I'm loving rereading it because I really enjoyed it the first time. I'm just hoping that I continue to love it!

This is the second time I am reading this series, in prep for the final book. Somehow, I missed reviewing this gem the first time around!

This is one of those Urban Fantasy novels that draws you from the very first page. It weaves around the characters, drawing the plot in intricate detail while allowing the world to be discovered in bits and pieces as it goes. And that world is EXPANSIVE! The clues dropped give credence to the notion that this is a complex and complicated narrative, one that stretches literally across continents and envelopes multiple characters.

Of course, there is a hint of romance here, but in Book 1, it's a side note, a temptation for things to come. Heads up, this is NOT an RH, though it really would have made a spectacular one.

Overall, this is a great UF that I recommend.

New adult paranormal romance set in the US. Everyone knows they are a shifter, have grown up in a shifter community (with a few exceptions) and they are 22 in shifter university, which is not like regular college. From what little you see of it shifter university is morning combat training followed by the Roy of combat and history. You have Jessa a wolf shifter as your FMC, with the rough around the edges but not in a way that makes her a b***h cockiness/teasing/etc you get when you've gone up the one girl in a group of guys, and the knowledge to play dirty occasionally and pull the girl card on her over protective guy friends, especially when cake is involved. There are a number of references to the characters getting it on like rabbits (not with each other) but no actual scenes. Having finished book 1 I haven't actually figured out what kind of romance this is. The description includes a review that this is for grades 9 and up, which makes me thing this is your normal live triangle, but there are moments where you are like yup, these are her four guys. Then you are like oh no, that guy belongs to that girl. Then you are like nope she definitely has four. Or wait is she just with this other guy? No its one guy but this one. OK no its four. Wait but that one goes with that girl. At the end of book 1 I still have no idea if this is a love triangle or a slow burn harem. I'm totally cool with a long burn harem (I actually like those best in the harem universe, they quiet the objections my brain throws out) and I'm OK with one guy one girl, but I just want to know up front what kind of love story I'm getting into. Do I need to pick teams? Do I need to be preparing myself for the heart break of the guy's who don't win? (I'm always sad for them). There are moments where you are like yup, these are her four guys. Then you are like oh no, that guy belongs to that girl. Then you are like nope she definitely has four. Or wait is she just with this other guy? No its one guy but this one. OK no its four. Wait but that one goes with that girl. Ah wait is it five guys? No its four but that original one is swapped out for this one. No wait it's three.

The unclear love story aside, I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to book two. Although I will say, I did drag my feet at little.aroubd 40%. The way the description laid things out o thought the story was going to go one way and I just really wasn't into that (kind of like with 90s TGIF sitcoms when you watch them.now and you are like nope this is the moment Corey makes a cringe worthy decision. Don't do it Urkel! Michelle you know Uncle Jesse is going to be upset with you for that. And you just have to change the channel because you just can't) ut I stuck with it and it didn't play out the play the description was leading me to believe, so I'm glad I stuck it out.

The story was aggravating. The author had Jessa do stupid things to advance the plot and it's obnoxious how the obvious mate situation with Braxton was ... ignored? Meh. I almost DNF'd at 50% but did a quick skim to the end and remained underwhelmed.
