I read this book because I wanted to read a young adult science fiction book, despite being closer to my thirties. Overall, the book was a great read and showcased a unique utopia that I would classify as almost perfection. It is almost perfect because people live long lives, where they can accomplish most of their desires. This almost utopia is accomplish through a powerful AI ruler that seeks to develop humanity and get rid of death. Although things are not perfect, as people do have to die and now it is truly up to mankind to decide who must live and die. My reading takeaway is that I am glad to finish two fiction books around the same time, but my goal is to do the same but with nonfiction.

I like this book. It's not perfect, or maybe just not specifically for me. But the characters and the story are quite fun and interesting. Maybe fun isn't the right word. In a world where traditional death is no longer a reality, the Scythe's take up the necessary mantle to continue the tradition. We follow two apprentice scythes as they experience the world from this perspective.
Very interesting and thought provoking for a young adult book. Recommended.

I have a thought of emotions on this read. I liked this book a lot but their was something missing the first half of the book for me. I'm not sure what it was but it appeared as I kept reading. As well as the book itself I struggled liking the two main characters, Citra and Rowan. Whenever the booked peaked my interest I started enjoying the two. I found the writing, the plot, the world and gleaning was interesting. Besides the main two I really liked Scythe Farady, Curie and Volta. That ending I think I loved Citra so damn much more than I thought I could.

Absolutamente rendida por esse livro! Amei demais a premissa.

E assim somos apresentados a Citra e Rowan.

A partir daí somos apresentados a muita confusão e gritaria.

This book is such a breath of fresh air. A truly original concept that has been grasped so perfectly by Shusterman who swallowed the bite that many would've found too tough to even chew.

I do have gripes with this book, it is in no way perfect, -  particularly with how Citra was written initially - but after reading one of (if not the) most gripping, perfect ending to an incredible plot, I find myself not caring much about it.

A perfect set-up for book 2 which I am very certain I will enjoy even more than this one; it's already being snatched from my shelf.
