A Cowboy Like You is book 4 in the Heart of Texas series and it can be read as a stand-alone but I do recommend you start from the beginning because you get to know more about some of the secondary characters from this book.

I was so hooked into this story that I just couldn't put it down. This book has suspense and romance. I just loved the chemistry between Danny and Skylar. I loved seeing some of the characters from previous books as well.

I hear there will be the 5th book in this series and I can't wait to read it.

I do highly recommend this.

I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

I’m a fan of this author’s Dragon and Reaper series....so imagine my surprise to a Heart of Texas romance. Friends through high school Danny and Skylar meet years later during one of Skylars lowest moments. Danny is now law enforcement and Skylar is in an abusive relationship that she’s try to leave.

What did I like? This is obviously a series with intertwined characters because small towns band together and the friend’s Danny has, are more than willing to help Skylar. Danny recognizes Skylar and now understands its now or never to disclose his feelings for her. I just love HEA books.

Would I buy this book? Series? This is nothing like the author’s other series but as a romance it stands firmly on its own. I think her Dragon series are better, and so I am prejudiced. I limit my book cash monthly so if it was a contest Dragons would win. It’s a sweet series though.

Thoughts for the author? Where was I when books one through three came out? Thanks again for allowing me a copy.

Not a bad story, but it fell a little flat for me. My suspension of disbelief was stretched fairly thin with the ending, and the set-up for the main romance was missing something. I enjoyed the tale, if not necessarily the storytelling.

A Cowboy Like You by Donna Grant is book number 4 in the Heart of Texas series. I previously read the third book, but do not feel like it is necessary to have read any of the other books, the author does a good job of setting up each story and the characters. For this book, I jumped right in with the action-packed beginning and pretty much read it straight through, with a little break for sleep. A Cowboy Like You is the story of Danny and Skylar and how he saves her from her horrendous ex-boyfriend. This book has a couple of racy scenes and a lot of things work out in the story for everything to move along how it does. Do not read this book looking for fine literature (I am in no way meaning it was not written well), but rather read it if you want to be fully entertained from start to finish. Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for giving me this book. This review is 100% my honest opinion.

3,5 stars

A wonderful addition to the series (I've read other books in the series before) in general, and a story I just really enjoyed reading from beginning till end.

It wasn't anything overly spectacular and quite predictable, which is why I didn't rate it higher than 3,5 stars. But nonetheless, it was a book I was always excited for to pick up at the end of the day, when I read it on my Kindle in bed.

It was a fast paced read thanks to the enjoyable writing style.

I like the main characters in this one a lot, as well as the minor characters that we've come across in previous books (although, the book can be easily read as a stand alone as well btw!). They are all such a great bunch of people to get to know.

The Second chance romance was really well written in my opinion and I liked the small presence of suspense present in the story as well.

Overall, a contemporary romance that's a good in between read. I'd definitely recommend picking up the entire series, so you get to read the stories of all the characters you come across. It makes it that much more fun when you read later written installments and see characters reoccur in each other's story.

(This review was written after receiving an ARC of the book from the publisher and Netgalley. The fact that I got the book for free, doesn't mean my opinions aren't my own because they are!)

A Cowboy Like You, was an extremely enjoyable and engaging story. That pulled me in from the start. Thanks to a strong, plausible plot line, likable characters and a few edge of your seat moments. Not to mention a sweet romance that although a little rushed was still very pleasing to read. And with a small town setting, some nice secondary characters, and a lovely mix of real life issues, drama and suspense. I was easily hooked and would therefore happily recommend it to others.

A Cowboy Like You pretty much falls in line with the rest of the Heart of Texas series in terms of my feelings about the book. The story has some things I like and some I don't, landing me somewhere in the middle. The suspense is pretty good, and domestic violence is a serious topic when the main focus is supposed to be a romance. And that's where I started running into problems with this one. Not the domestic violence topic, I'm all for shedding light on a subject that was only whispered about for way too long. However, the romance in this one came up sorely lacking for me. I get that Skylar and Danny already knew each other, but it's not like they saw each other every day either. There should have been some getting to know each other time before they were madly in love. And speaking from experience, Skylar should not have been so willing to trust, especially while everything was still going on. The love story here just didn't ring true. The ending felt a bit rushed also, but when you consider the romance, it fits. In the end, this one was just okay for me.

Thanks to Netgalley & St. martins press for this ARC! This is my honest review.

“Danny Oldman, the handsome Lone Star sheriff, is still single. He tells himself, and anyone who asks, that he is married to his job—and what matters most is keeping the people of his beloved Texas hometown safe. The truth? Danny still hasn’t gotten over his high school crush, Skylar. She moved away after graduation and took Danny’s heart with her.”

I love a good reunion story! This one included an interesting twist with Skylar being on the run from an abusive boyfriend - made even more appropriate since I read this story during #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth. As with the other books in this series - Donna Grant does a great job of weaving in action with romance! I liked that the police actually took her story seriously - that is something that (in real life) is unfortunately not as common as it should be.

I do highly recommend reading the other three books that came before this one - they provide a nice background on the characters.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from St. Martins Press in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

A Cowboy Like You is the most recent book in the Heart of Texas series and I have been having such a fun time with these books and this whole world this author has created. I have to say I am highly impressed with seeing how she handles contemporary westerns with a blend of suspense thrown in. She definitely has done such a superb job in transferring from genre to genre. And as someone who adores western romantic suspense, I can't recommend this author enough.

Our story begins with our heroine, who is in danger. Skylar is shocked that her live in boyfriend, a man she thought owned her heart, is not the man she believed him to be. Matt turned out to be abusive and controlling and highly manipulative. And now she had thought she had found freedom but then he caught her again but then the sheriff of the county where she is attacked, comes onto the situation and saves her and takes her to a safe haven....now he takes her to his family's ranch which is built like a fortress. Skylar is realizing that she needs to stand against Matt and his powerful family. But as she is working to rebuilding her life, she finds something unexpected in Danny's embrace....a love worth fighting for

A Cowboy Like You was such a fun and intense book which shouldn't surprise me as its Donna Grant writing this. But the more I have read from this series the more I am falling in love with this ranch and this family who runs in. I just love how they come together and are so supportive of each other. Its such fun to see these two connect and find their way out of this tense filled situation. I really liked how this author implemented the villain's POV throughout the book, it allows us to see his motives and his actions to getting his revenge against Skylar. It also portrayed how wealth has power in many ways but that truth and justice can win against everything. I really respected seeing the various elements that this author placed into the story.

The romance that builds between Danny and Skylar but they have history. This is an unrequited love story. Danny and Skylar knew each other in high school. But Danny was never brave enough to approach her and both held a connection without even realizing it. Now they have found each other and their chemistry is highly explosive as is the danger they are in. For appearances, they have to hide what they feel for each other so that Skylar's ex doesn't realize the truth. I loved seeing the sexual tension build between them as they find their way secretly.

Overall I found A Cowboy Like You to be a western gem that embodies the bold and daring of the west with the thrills to embrace within it.
