OHHH Mizz Toni Aleo, once again you give us one action packed, smoking hot, emotional ride with this one! This book not only gives the swoon moments but it also delves into a dark topic that I felt was handled amazingly.
Mekena is all spit and fire and rightfully so. After everything that happened and being betrayed by the two people she loved the most, who could blame her. But when things come to light, I love how she fought back. How she put her sister in her place and how she fought for Markus. These two were so made for each other. Markus was just wow. When things were out in the open, the swoon worthy man is just wow. Aleo writes yet another man that every women would love to have!
What I really loved about this book is how Aleo took tough tops which as much as people like to deny they exist, they are right there. From drugs, to rape to interracial dating. Aleo conveyed it with such beautiful poise that I found this book to be one of my favorite Assassins one... and Jordie is hard to top!

I have no idea why this one didn't resonate with me, but it just didn't. Possibly because Mekena read very young to me.
I did like that she dealt with men as victims of sexual assault, though, as that is often something that is only written as a female trauma.

Face-Off at the Altar is book 12 in the Assassins Series. I really enjoyed Face-off at the Altar and can't wait to continue with the series. I loved Mekena and Markus.

I enjoyed the book and being back in the Assassins universe but the newer characters just don’t seem to click with me as much as the previous characters did. For one thing they are too young. Meeting your one true love/soulmate at 18 just does it work for me. No real life experience. Additionally these two characters just didn’t inspire the same connection in me as the core Assassins and their wives did.

The writing is still well done and I’m still loving the Assassins universe but it almost feels like the social issues are becoming a bigger part of the story than the characters which is different from the early books. Thanks not necessarily a bad thing but it’s a different thing.
