2.5 ⭐️ I bought this book second hand because the premise reminded me of Clive Cussler and Dan Brown. I liked the plot, but not the writing style since this book felt like I was watching an action movie, which isn’t what I want from a book. Don’t get me wrong, I really like action movies, but when I pick up a book I want a tad bit more depth. I own the second book and will read it but afterwards I’m done with this series 👋

This is the book that got me into archeological action thrillers, when i was a teen.
No. No!!!! No!!! Bang! Crack! No! What is with the horrible writting? The ponctuation is bad, the italics are totally misused and the "crack, boom, shwack" reminded me of an old Batman show from the 1960s... The story is so out-there, it's difficult to let it go. I love a good action packed book but this was too much.
4.5⭐️ This was such a fun (and intense!) adventure. Loved the characters, very excited to read the next books in the series. I especially loved the diagrams throughout, this created such a helpful visual of specific scenes which really added to my understanding of how certain events were unfolding.

So completely different from the usual book I read. A thrilling and enthralling read. Initially the vast quantity of historical "facts" was hard to process but as I got used to Reilly's style I was able to take it all in my stride. A fun read that will inspire you to travel to far-flung corners of the globe.
It was manic and crazy and fun, but not perfect. Outlandish with neat ideas.
I'm not sure why I finished this book. I guess, trying to be fair, I did want to see how it turned out. But this author writes like he was paid by the word and also as if Dan Brown was his literary idol.
I will say that he does do a great job writing action scenes, of which there are many in this book. Unfortunately, it feels like someone did a novelisation of a popular big explosions Hollywood blockbuster, and that just isn't what I look for in a book. The premise was thin and gets stretched even more thinly with each new Wonder they have to find and excise.
I give it one star but I think this book just isn't for me and so I'm trying to be charitable.

Brilliant, fantastic, wonderful. Like reading a computer game, with your mind imagining the people doing the actions.
I realised who the 'traitor' was early in the piece.
Could imagine this book being made into a computer game, and wonder if any one has brought the movie rights, as I can picture it as a movie (although I'm sure some changes would be made by the company who makes it probably)
Loved it, finished it in 2 days, bring on the next book, I can not wait to get my hands on it.
