I LOVED the first two books in this series and almost hated this one. I was so bored reading it and the ending...hated it. I mean you really know since book two what's going to happen but that doesn't mean I liked it. Now, I will read the fourth book just to see if my issues that I have with this book are resolved but my hopes are low. So sad.

I really like this series but the ending was pretty disappointing for this one. Hopefully they find a solution in the next book!

Wow, this book has improved so much from the first and second books.
Not the ending I was expecting or really hoping for, but honestly, it works great.
4 stars instead of 5 only for the reason that I got bogged down by the amount of time they spend with black cross in the beginning - although when they finally got out, and HOW they did I was finally crying 'YES! About time!'
Like I said, seems that's this series is getting better as I read - after picking it up after a break at the beginning, I finished this book within a day
Thumbs up so far :)

Second read:
I'd probably rate this at 4-star, based on my reread. I remember this one being one of my favourite of the series but I definitely found flaws this time around that did lower my overall enjoyment. The story started to feel a little disjointed towards the end. I didn't really feel as if it had purpose, just that things were happening without progressing towards an end goal.

5/5 Stars - Amazing!!!

This book is my favorite out of the series so far. It was intense, thrilling, heart breaking and wonderful.
Some parts of the book made me feel like this:

Other parts made me feel like this:

The ending got me like this though:

no more gifs, I promise

I just want to appreciate Claudia Gray and her writing, it's fantastic. I love each character in so many different ways and they are all so different to one another.
The story line is perfect, there's never really a dull moment but it's never too much action. I was always engaged in the book, I had put it down only once to sleep.

My favorite character is always going to be Balthazar More, he may not be a very main character but he's just wonderful. I love the way he's written!
I also really like Ranulf, he's very funny and I always seem to laugh out loud when he speaks.
Examples: *Spoilers* (somewhat)
' "I wish to make an observation," Ranulf said.
Exasperated, Lucas said, "You're not the only one cramping up in this backseat, okay?"
Ranulf replied, "That was not the observation." ' - Pg 192

This made me giggle because he's always so calm and has an open mind. He's also a little baby who complains about being cramped up in the back seat!

' Ranulf nodded, "That is the matter in which I roll." ' - Pg 320
' "I am socializing with wraiths," Ranulf muttered. "This is not a thing that is done" ' - Pg 321

I recommended this book to anyone who enjoys a forbidden romance, some vampire action, some sweet yet gory love scenes and witty banter.
I really, really love this series. I hope to buy the next two soon, I can't wait much longer to read what's gonna happen next.

2.5//// yikes

Ok the good first:
- i really do like the introduction of the wraiths in the last book and I'm intrigued about them for sure
- something happened to the main love interest at the end of the book and honestly i'm glad we got that over with already lmao
- anytime there's a Balthazar scene, i get happy. we stan
- i appreciate the small, but understandable given the age of this book, lesbian rep

what i didn't like:
- i very rarely dislike main characters or feel that they're 'annoying'. i hear that a lot when seeing other reviews. with ya/teen books, i give some slack to most characters because they're teens. but i really don't like some of the decisions that our main made. they were incredibly hypocritical.
- bland info dumb towards the end
- still don't care about the Charity plot line. boring conflict. kinda hate how she blamed the outcome of this plot on Balthazar.

She better fix this in the final book. Part of me wished that somehow Balthazar could end up at least happy even though I know he won't end up with Bianca. Lucas really isn't my fav in this book, mostly because he wouldn't become a vamp for his love which caused her to die. Though now he is one anyway and he still had to watch Bianca die? Charity is actually making things better even though she is completly bananas. Bianca's parents really needed to tell her the truth, or at least the alternative to not becoming a vamp. I'm not really sure why they kept it from her? Kinda bad parenting.

I thought it was ok. I liked the first 2 books in the series more, but this one was pretty good too.
