One of the heaviest in a while. So much trauma for these kids.

This book does well on action and character but I feel the overall plot was pretty basic. At the very least, it might have some things that could be somewhat important in the overall plot of the series.

That was DARK.
Also, I felt a negative shift in how the friend group regards Cassie, yikes.

Possibly a little weird to start revisiting the Animorphs series with #16 but when I saw it sitting in a Little Free Library I couldn’t resist.

This step in the series has us watching Jake grapple with the pressures of leadership and (kind of hilariously with 2020 vision) work/life balance.

Applegate does a great job naturally incorporating explainers into the text of things that happened earlier in the series.

I’d recommend this for anyone who enjoys a throwback to early technology, stories with heavy world building, and sci-fi / youth fiction.
