Is it possible for a book to feel like a hug? Yes, yes it is. The Vampire Knitting Club was the exact type of hug I needed. It's cozy, it's cute. Lucy felt like this friend I had missed for so long. I loved her so much it absolutely insane. Honestly, I don't have anything bad to say about this. It's a very nice cozy mystery novel about a woman trying to figure out what happened to her grandmother while also deciding how her life should continue from that moment on. I do strongly recommend the audiobook, the narrator has the most wonderful voice I have ever heard.
Well now, I pulled on one of my knitted cardigans my grandma made me and off to the next book in her adventure I go.

Got this book in a box set of the first three books in this series. It’s super cute and the vibes are cotton candy flavored, both dumber and more clever than I thought it would be and so easy to read through it might as well be butter.
Title: The Vampire Knitting Club
Author: Nancy Warren
Genre: Cozy Supernatural Mystery
Well written?: Rough start but generally ok otherwise
Non-spoilery notes
Characters: Creative and fun and a little non-traditional
World/world building: Set in Oxford Town, modern day. No world building necessary
Action/adventure levels: Enough action to keep you reading
Quick to engage: a bit of a rough start, but otherwise yes
Intrigue levels once engaged: Standard for a cozy mystery - enough to keep you reading, not enough to be overbearing
Vaguely spoilery notes
Love triangle: Not at the moment, but probably eventually, alas
Sex scenes: None
Desire to slap the protagonist: I didn't get the urge even once. Lucy is generally likeable and not overly inclined to melodrama or stupidity beyond a typical 27 year old.

I listened to this as an audio book while at work. It’s a pretty short read/listen, and is very lighthearted and cozy.

The Vampire Knitting Club is a paranormal cozy mystery novel that includes a knitting shop, vampires, witches and of course a kitten familiar. Lucy Swift is in her mid-20s and in need of a new path in life, and she finds one unexpectedly when she learns her grandmother has died and left her her knitting shop. Except grandma isn’t exactly dead, and yet there’s her murder to solve.
I enjoyed this more than I expected for a book literally about a group of knitting vampires. I don’t usually enjoy mysteries, but this book had enough charm and it was quite fast paced that I stayed pretty well entertained. I listened to the audiobook version, and the narration is good and kept me engaged. I don’t think I’ll necessarily pick up the rest of this series (there’s like 15 already?), but I’m happy I read this one all the same. It was light, fluffy and good for low-stakes entertainment.
