Mycelium Running is a great multipurpose book, with applications spanning from general informational knowledge to nutrition and land management. Parts I and II (chapters 1-8) consist of the general knowledge, the more easily read through portions of the book. Part III, particularly chapters 9-12 and 14, are better used as a reference to look back on for future endeavors in applying the knowledge set forth by parts I and II. This does make part III a bit of a difficult read if you’re trying to read through it in a sitting, but the photographs and graphs make it more digestible. Chapter 8 on mycopesticides was arguably the best chapter of the book, taking into account both Stamets’ personal experiences like all chapters and applying them in an easily accessible way.

Cool content, but not my preferred writing style. As a result it was difficult for me to get into, but the pictures are awesome. The author's passion for mushrooms shows clearly in his prose and he's made me appreciate them more as well. Maybe a bit hyperbolic about the potential benefits of mushrooms in places but we're talking about "unknown unknowns" so it's not like I know any better!

Feels like it is meant for intermediate or above mycologists. Not necessarily great for beginners as it is rather dense.

One of the best.

Inoculate the world with this book. Mycilial dreams.
