Grants story was the best of the series yet. His back story was both tragic and moving. Love love love this series

The story and the characters are great. I just couldn't get into it. I was bored for most of it. Charli is a compelling character with all that she has been through and being passed over in a man's world. I'm not sure if it's her or just the mood, but I really didn't care where any of the characters ended up. I didn't care if Charlie and Grant ended up together or Charlie got her story. Not sure what the disconnect is, especially since in every other book of this series, I've adored Grant. I'm going to put this series aside and see if taking a break will get me ready for the next story. Don't want to rate it low because I think the overall story is good. Just not sure where the disconnect is between me reading and the characters

After loving the previous books in this series, especially Jace's story in the last book (which I loved, btw, even though I don't normally enjoy "sharing" or menage storylines), I was slightly disappointed with this one. I was really looking forward to Grant's book after reading about him in previous stories, but I never felt a magical connection between Charli and him (and I hated, HATED his nickname for her, "Freckles"--every time I read it, it reminded me of a puppy instead of a sexy woman). I also didn't get why it was extremely difficult for him to tolerate her giving oral sex to another dom, however, that same dom performing oral sex on her seemed fine--just didn't really make sense to me. The suspenseful part of the storyline and exploration of Grant's tormented past were well written, but I felt they took up too much of the time that could have been spent on Grant and Charli experimenting with all the aspects of bdsm that Grant kept thinking he wanted to introduce Charli to. All in all, this was just meh to me, and I kept looking to see how many pages were left--a sure sign that I'm not totally captivated by a romance in a book. I usually thoroughly enjoy Roni Loren's writing--this one just slightly missed the mark for me.

This was a good story from beginning to end. Charli, the female lead, was completely uninitiated to the world of BDSM. Grant who runs "The Ranch" introduces Charli to his world. She seems like the last person to ever want Grant's lifestyle, but learns that inner strength is a necessary part of that world. It is an interesting love story with a little suspense thrown in to complete the story. This is the third book I've read in Roni Loren's series with "The Ranch" as the center. Each one has had two characters trying to learn how to live with both grief and love. So far each story has been successful.
