I appreciate the fresh take on a Titanic-set story: focused on a group of teenage girls with BIPOC and LGBT representation. A young teen looking for an adventurous novel with a little romance subplot would be happy with this. I was a little disappointed in the lack of levity. There is plenty for tension, teenage yearning, some tragedy—but no comedy to balance it. To me, heist novel = fun hijinks and a sense of humor, and that wasn’t really present here.

Enjoyable, lighthearted read. Simple prose and straightforward narrative. Could have really made more use of the setting; a missed opportunity to explore the Titanic as a location and all the various factors about it

This had so much promise, but it fell short.
Jumping between POVs so randomly sold all of the characters short. I didn't really get a chance to know or like them. None of them made their way into my heart or had any significance to me. I wasn't invested in their stories. Their backgrounds and motivations could be swapped all around; they weren't strong enough to make a difference. The romance didn't feel authentic. The rising action dragged on and the actual action felt rushed.
One point for it is that it was very easy to read. Unfortunately, it just wasn't interesting enough to keep me reading. Rarely am I content to read a chapter or two of a book right before bed; I always want to keep going. Here, it was no problem at all to close the book. And that was another big sign that this just doesn't do it for me.
This is an interesting concept with so much potential. I didn't hate it, or it'd have a lower rating. But there are so many inaccuracies, some of which the author even admits to in her author's note, others of which aren't acknowledged. I had high hopes for it, but I can't convince myself it deserves any more than 3 stars.

This is the third book by Adiba Jaigirdar that I’ve read and it’s another winner for me. ✨ I love that she decided to write a story in one of my favorite eras and a historical disaster that has always interested me. What I loved about this book was the diversity of our main cast of girls; they come from different parts of the world and we have sapphic representation as well. I loved their stories and really was rooting for them. I like how Jaigirdar writers her characters. I get so attached to them. What I didn’t love so much about the book was the pacing - some things seemed rushed or too slow. I also wanted more exploration of the Titanic itself. Lastly, I wanted the relationships fleshed out a bit more, especially with an ending, the inevitable sinking, that happens so quickly. I enjoyed the book though and it was 4 stars for me. ✨
While Josefa, Emilie, Hinnah, and Violet don't seem to have anything in common, they have one thing in common: stealing the Rubaiyat, a jewel-encrusted book aboard the Titanic that just might be the golden ticket to solving their problems. But carless mistakes, new romance, old grudges and secrets put them in incredible danger as they try to complete their heist. While the odds of completing their heist are slim their odds of surviving the Titanic are slimmer...
A solid choice for anyone looking for a historical action-adventure heist. I struggled with the changing of the characters and keeping up but that feels more like a me problem of when I read it than a problem for the book. The ending caught me off guard as well but it worked.
