I listened to this whole audiobook in one day! It was so fun, and definitely had some spooky moments.

Big thanks to Maureen Kilmer, NetGalley, and Penguin Group Putnam for this ARC. I devoured this book! I enjoyed it so much. This was most likely my first horror read and will not be my last read from the author. I thought the concept of the book was very unique. Amy lives in a suburban neighborhood filled with typical PTA moms, but her three friends and herself instantly bond by not being typical moms. They each have their faults, but they enjoy spending time together, not judging each other, and enjoying wine and movie nights. They concoct a plan to build a She Shed, but once construction happens, they unleash an unexpected demon and one of them becomes possessed. Amy, Jess, and Melissa band together to fight the evil while also dodging evil looks from other moms in the neighborhood.

I absolutely loved the bond between the four women in this story. The friendship between them was so relatable. They each had their struggles and wanted to help each other no matter what. The story was creepy and spooky. I've read some stories in the past where it feels they are trying too hard to be horror or supernatural, but this one knew it was horror and made me believe it. I would definitely recommend this one.

I was hoping for a campy housewife turned zombie tale, but nope. I got a demon possessed housewife story with no laughs.

3.5 - Funny but the ending felt rushed and overly sappy

Holy shit! Okay first off this book was scarier than it had ANY right to be! But, I’ll get back to that. I just want to say if you’re from the Midwest or Illinois suburbs specifically this book has all the things I grew up knowing! From Chicago, FIBs, “ope”, spotted cow beer (only available in Wisconsin), and like every other midwestern stereotype that’s based on facts! This aspect DREW me in. Also, thank you for mentioning the White Sox and not just the Cubs (sorry to all you cubbie fans I’m south side born and raised!). Now for the horror, to me there’s not a lot more scary than a child with an imaginary friend, drawing creepy pictures, and saying creepy one liners, I had to turn Disney on last night just so I could go to sleep! I LOVED this book! Thank you Katie for recommending it! So, I’m the end I absolutely recommend this one especially this time of year!!!!

When they say moving to the suburbs is hell, they don’t mean it literally…

This was a cute little story about friends you might have never picked but because of forced proximity of the suburbs you bond. That and your hatred of the same people that you have to deal with , nothing test the friendship more then the day to day madness between children , house renovations ohhhh and your neighbor being possessed by a demon.

It was a cute read with a few silly moments mixed in with the creepy actions of Liz possessed . my favorite part was the romba. I'm a mood reader sometimes so at the time it was ok and took me a while to get though it . That being said looking back and reviewing it I did enjoy it more then I initially though .

I would read more by this author and I could see myself suggesting this book to people who was a little bit of silly with a halloween vibe . I don't see myself re-reading it though .

Maybe the real demon was the patriarchy all along. Just kidding, the scariest thing that happens here is when the appetizers are ruined. Fun ride though if you’re up for it.
