I didn’t like this relationship as much as the others. It was still cute.

Definitely one of those books to read if you want something feel good at the end. Started off deeply entertaining but the momentum didn’t continue. I did find myself wishing that the background characters got more airtime than they did- sometimes they seemed more interesting than the main characters at times.

I did not expect to hate this book. But goddamn did I want to rip my paperback copy in half multiple times while reading. In fact, ’hate’ might be too soft a word to fully describe my distaste for it.

Ben Rosewood is the first character in the Glimmer Falls series that I have actively despised. He came across as a whiny, self-pitying incel who desperately needed to sort out his priorities—helping his sister run for mayor should not have taken precedence over helping Eleonore free herself from a literal slave-contract.

There was no romantic chemistry between the main characters, and Ben occasionally taking the time to comment on Eleonore’s ’sexiness’ felt very icky considering the power-imbalance between the two.

The third-act conflict was also extremely predictable and felt like watching a car crash in slow motion.

Somehow, this book managed to hit all of my least favorite tropes. I truly wish I could unread it.
