Very slow book that lacks a real storyline. I always waited for the story to begin, then thought it began only for the resolution to come very quickly and a new storyline springing up. But I appreciated learning so much about the repatriation of indigenous ancestors.

This was an action-packed, unapologetically activist young adult book. I enjoy how passionately and clearly Angeline Boulley introduces the issues she focuses on in this book, seemingly without holding back and without patronizing the reader. I liked our main character and her family and friends. The scene-setting is well done; the community on Sugar Island feels real and is so rich with history and traditions that it’s clear Boulley knows what she is writing about. The only problem that remains is the plot,
