This story was so funny and cute. Deke and his antics made me laugh so hard and smile so much. He was just a ray of sunshine. Marshall is just a big marshmallow for Deke even tho he fights it and doesn’t show it. These two are cute together and turns out they are perfect for one another, even tho it takes Marshall a little while to see that. This book has all the feels, all the sexy fun kitten times.

This book was truly just a whole bunch of fun. I can't remember the last time I smiled quite as much while reading. I'm certain I looked like an absolute dork the whole way through, and I loved it.

‘Young man volunteers for a kinky pet adoption charity event in order to win over his chosen soulmate after finding out he's kinky, but accidentally chooses the wrong kink’ is definitely the recipe for so, so many good things. The steam was amazing. Deke is a virgin who's saved himself for Marshall for over 3 years. You better believe it was explosive when he finally got what he wanted.

Deke was just.. a lot, but in all the best ways. He saw Marshall, and because he just knew they were soulmates, destined to be, endgame, written in the stars, etc., of course he was relentless in his pursuit. Deke's character definitely straddles the line sometimes, but because he's a good person, and has the purest heart, you just can't get annoyed with him. He was also absolutely hilarious and said the most unintentionally unhinged things.

"Do I look fuckable enough in this?” I asked, wondering if I should pull out the kitchen shears and make the shirt into a crop top before popping over to Marshall's to check on the status of the future father of the babies I didn't plan on having. Wait, non-father? Co... unparent?

Marshall was the perfect counterbalance for Deke's unhinged-ness. He had some hang-ups from a previous relationship that made him feel not good enough for a relationship, but when he finally gave in to Deke (come on, it was inevitable), he provided the calm his kitten needed to let go of his stress.

I swallowed hard, a lump in my throat. My boy was all in, and always had been. If I ever let him down, it would be a thousand times worse than the way I'd disappointed Ryan. Hurting Deke would be unbearable.

"What if Marshall isn't into slutty twinks at all?” I whined. Mom sighed. “You're doubling down on the 'slutty,' sweetie? Really? Do we need to have a talk about the no-tolerance policy toward sex shaming in this house?"

"Oh, and number four, you know I'm in love with you.” Daddy spewed out the sip of water he'd just taken. I handed him a napkin. “That wasn't actually the question. You have to know. Number four is, how long do you think it will take you to catch up and love me back?” “Deke,” he said, and then stopped, just staring at me. Good staring... probably. I squirmed. “Too much?"

I’m a bit disappointed that I DNFed this book because I really enjoy Chara’s writing style and character voices, but I wasn’t a huge fan of Deke’s naivety about the type of auction it was or the desperation it seemed he felt to be whatever Marshall wanted or Marshall’s attitude about Deke’s crush. The writing was easy-flowing with fun character inside-voices, but neither of the MCs were enjoyable to me.

This author has been really hit or miss for me and I have always steered clear of pet play so I really just expected to try this but ditch it within a chapter or two. It seemed to be just what I was in the mood for, but I am often disappointed in "daddy" books so my expectations were low. But I actually really enjoyed this one!

It was all Deke. He was HILARIOUS. One reviewer said he was way too childlike for her taste, but in this category, that's pretty standard. I've read quite a few DD/lb with age play, and this felt pretty on par with that. Deke was very energetic and excitable and he went after what he wanted. He knew that Marshall was the one for him, and he never gave up hope, even when it started to look like maybe Marshall didn't want him after all.

I didn't love the impression Deke gave that he would jump into anything or become anything if only Marshall would finally be with him though. Yes, he's young and once he went down that rabbit hole he realized he loved it so he was discovering his kinks. But it definitely rubbed me wrong.

The actual pet play is probably still not something I'll seek out, but if I was going to, kitten play definitely seems much more palatable to me. Not yucking anyone's yum. Just confirming that it's really not my yum, and I'm glad this was the particular book that introduced me to this particular genre.

Overall, Deke was hilarious, it was sexy and sweet. There really wasn't much of a story beyond Deke finally convincing Marshall to be his, but if you're looking for low angst with some kink, that definitely works.

I loved this. Very cute.
The younger MCs is kind of a stalker and pushy, but it's in a fun way.

Everything that I disliked about this book comes from the same source: Deke. He's over the top to the point of being annoying and this never slows down or changes. His obsession with his neighbor comes off as creepy rather than cute, and everyone in his life feeds into this obsession willingly. He is lucky that Marshall (for some reason) returns his feelings. His kink exploration is the most interesting aspect of this book, but leads to more frustrations. Despite being a college student preparing to graduate, he is somehow incapable of figuring out how to google information and needs his friend to help. Deke's graphic sex and kink conversations with his mother are very awkward to read. There was too much focus on inner thoughts, which greatly slowed down the book's pace. If it was much shorter and more focused, it would have been more enjoyable. Their relationship seemed unhealthy between Deke's obsession and Marshall's struggle with moving past issues in his last relationship. Marshall's issues never really felt handled, and Deke of course only had his obsession supported with everyone treating it as totally normal.

As always, Chara Croft's latest romance was an absolute delight. Deke was one enthusiastic, determined boy, and his pursuit of Marshall was just as adorable as it was persistent. I found myself laughing out loud dozens of times at Deke's rambly monologues, sunshine happiness, and hilarious no-filter personality, and he brought so much energy to this story. Marshall didn't stand a chance at resisting him, and getting to know his soft, caring heart only made me believe even more firmly that he was Deke's perfect Daddy. I'm very convinced that Marshall would have found reason after reason to deny his attraction to Deke had Deke not taken the leap of faith and put himself on display at a kinky fundraiser, but thankfully he wasn't the kind of boy to wait around for Daddy. No, Deke ran headfirst into pet play and discovered that being a sassy little kitten was exactly what he hadn't realized he'd needed the whole time. God was that first night of play hot, and after Marshall let go of the voices in his head telling him he couldn't be a good Daddy, their connection was off the charts. From sexy explorations to kitten playtime and sweet date nights, Marshall and Deke settled right into a forever relationship without looking back. Theirs is the kind of romance I've always pictured as my ideal--full of playfulness and passion and so much deep, lasting love. I will never get enough of the way Chara can draw out foreplay into a delicious tease and then set me on fire with the passionate outcome, but I also loved Marshall and Deke's partnership outside the bedroom. These two were a perfect match in so many ways, and the way they supported each other unquestioningly was incredible. I'm over the moon by how their story ended, and knowing that a year later their relationship still has the same delightful passion it had at the start was exactly what I needed to let these two ride off into the sunset together.
