I rarely say this, but this book was a waste of my time. For all the hoopla in the media it received, I expected something better. The book reads like a 12 year old's diary, and is just a recount of what happened at various key points in Britney's own life. Considering the career and life she's had, the book length (287 pages of digital edition) is a MASSIVE clue that her story isn't adequately covered in any way. Yes, it is very sad what happened to Britney, and I am glad she blew a topic of her conservatorship wide open, because harmful things should be talked about and brought to light so they can be disarmed. But as a book, story, biography - it has no merit at all. I cannot think about a single scene with context of the times all this was happening in (context is so important in biographies and autobiographies). It's probably the most shallow, lazy, zero-insight autobiography I've ever read.

I was hesitant to leave a review for this because I don’t want it to come across as disrespectful to what Britney’s been through or anything like that. I rated this three stars because I felt like the memoir wasn’t put together was well as it could’ve been- I think it just needed to cook some more. This doesn’t take away from the fact that I’m heavily empathetic to the trauma she’s suffered and the strength it must’ve taken to write it, though. So many people did her so wrong, it’s disgusting. Also, I loved the narrator for this.

while this wasn’t the most well written book, i found it very interesting. Brittney writes about some crazy things that happen in her life and how those things impact her. i feel like if i knew more background about her life this story would have made more sense, but still a good read!
Rating is based on just vibes and it was bit of a bummer. Britney’s life was so controlled and I am glad she is doing better now. Listened to the audiobook of it and Michelle Williams did well.
I remember coming of age at the same time Brittney Spears's career was taking off. Her side of the story helped put in perspective the pain of my own adolescence and the BS things I was being told about my changing body and have made me feel less alone about what the culture of the late 90s-00s did to girls like me. And knowing the terrible things that happened to her, and her perseverance through it, have given me a new appreciation of her as an artist.
