Couldn't put this down- Russian corruption at the highest levels, a truth is better than fiction story of money, greed, abuse of power; all part of what Putin, and his Russian thugs, are doing to rob the Russian people of their wealth and freedom.

Best book you'll ever read about hedge funds and tax fraud!

The heroes of this story are a tax attorney and a billionaire hedge fund manager. And heroes they are. This book tells the story of Bill Browder's career and life, and the crime that turned him from business man to human rights crusader.

Sergei Magnitsky was killed in police custody in Russia. Held for nearly a year on trumped up charges, his real crime was whistleblower. He uncovered a massive tax fraud committed in Russia. Despite his horrible treatment and his failing brotherhood in custody, Sergei never backed down and continued to tell the truth of what he had uncovered.

Browder tells this story with such heart and feeling. It reads like a political thriller, an excellent one. Read this book. You won't regret it!

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK!

It starts out as a wild and deep dive into the finance world. So much of investment banking is hard to comprehend but then going to war with the Russian markets is so much more than I've ever known.

Then the story becomes a fight against Russian corruption and brutality. It's so intense and very sad. I had no idea the details behind some of these policy shifts.

This is an unreal story. It is all the more depressing now that almost the same thing has happened to Navalny.

I've had an off period of reading. A tough summer of friends dying, people sick, I just didn't have it in me to read. Nothing was capturing my attention...until this book. I typically shy away from non-fiction and memoirs but this came highly recommended by a fellow co-worker and I loved it. Talk about an eye opener into Russian politics and corruption. A huge 5 star book that I totally recommend.

Engaging and surprisingly important, Bill Browder’s personal account of the corruption running through the Russian finance section and government is starting and scary. Giving context with his unusual and high-achieving family, the reader understands quickly why Browder is so successful, and why that leads to some very dangerous places. Written in quick prose, Browder gives just enough detail to keep the reader engaged in a culture perhaps not like their own but with enough context and flair to feel like you’re there with him. Though some names are changed for protection purposes (and yes, they do need it), there is a startling amount of real information, making what could be a fictional spy and finance thriller all the more unsettling. Even if you are not interested in the world of international finance, Red Notice, at its end, becomes an important text on human rights issues and the need for transparency and security. Give it a read.
