I really love this series and was so excited to go to the library and see a new book out.

Betsy Taylor has problems that only a vampire queen/suburban wife could possibly understand. Such as taking the body of her werewolf friend Antonia-who died in her service-to Cape Cod, where she's not sure if the Wyndham werewolves will welcome her with fangs or friendship. Meanwhile, her posse back in St. Paul is sending frantic e-mails alerting Betsy to her half-sister's increasingly erratic behavior. Looks like the devil's daughter is coming into her own-and raising hell.

I wasn't too impressed with this installment of Queen Betsy books. The first part was a rehashing of the old books, which I needed but not in the form of the first 100 or so pages.

Things after the recap were too quick, everything being taken care of in a matter of a few pages.

The relationship between Betsy and Eric was a bit boring this book, their usual flare was simmered down to a mere luke-warmness.

I love Queen Betsy. I think she's my favorite vampire, though I admit, I don't have a shoe obsession like she does. The jokes are a little lacking in this book, but it's a very fast read, it has a great tempo, and leads up to a great ending (though it's definitely a little rushed).

Visiting Betsy is always fun so this series continues to be an enjoyable, fun read for me. Though the ending for this installment was a bit disturbing - for this series anyway.

Davidson's Undead series started out well, but the further I read, the more disappointed I become. By the 8th book, Betsy has just become annoying, and the plot is pretty much non-existent. I feel that I should keep reading the series just because I've made it this far. However, I don't know if I can keep the gag reflex in check much longer.

It's been a few years since I read the Undead series. Picked this one up after the break and discovered that I'd rather read more Fred or the Pack than Queen Betsy. The two plots felt completely at odd with each other, disjointed and not particularly interesting. More like reading a Sookie Stackhouse than Betsy tale.

Overall, the plot and absolutely over-the-top characterizations ended up earning the book 2.5/5 stars. I wanted more between Betsy and Pack wives, honestly. There was a lot of missing elements. Too much frenzied action and not enough character relationships. Didn't care for the journal aspect either. A new way of first POV but not at all well-executed.

Too bad. Definitely not a favorite of the series and I may backburner Betsy in the future. Recycled ignorance and narcissism gets old after awhile.

Ooh, this book was full of action and you can clearly see that the series is coming nearer to the end. I totally love this series and I can't wait to read the next book.

Ouch, that was the first one in this series that was actually painful to get through. The plot was never will defined. Marc's parts were formatted to look like silly interludes, but they were plottier than Betsy's plot. It was written so spasmodically like MJD was hurrying to meet a deadline and only started writing this book the night before.

I don't understand what short story I missed - what book actually had Betsy and Sinclair's wedding? There are all these references to the wedding and the werewolves being there, but I have no recollection of this at all. Annoyed. Just annoyed with Betsy in general. The comedy feels really forced. Eh.

Ok, this book committed basically every faux pas of the series novel. I swear to you, it took EIGHTY PAGES for Davidson to get all the backstory in - there was a teeny tiny trickle of current plot threaded throughout all the rehash, but SERIOUSLY, 80 PAGES!?!? It's the 8th book for crying out loud. Do an optional bullet-point list of reminders in the beginning, for goodness sake. I was almost too disgusted to keep reading. I HATE when authors can't keep the rehash to a minimum - I stop reading their series if they can't get a grip (and I'm going to abandon this one).

After all that, there was barely any plot there! The plot with the werewolves was so anemic it was laughable (no pun intended). The stuff with Laura could have been a short story. Basically, the entire plot could be condensed into 3 sentences. They bring Antonia's body back to the werewolves, fight with them a tiny bit, and all hug in the end. Laura loses her mind back in Minneapolis and starts killing vampires, and almost kills Betsy at the end. BabyJon is invulnerable to paranormal attack. The end.

It really sucked. I don't recommend it.

Man, Betsy's sister Laura is going to hell in a hand basket...almost literally.
