I liked mostly the second story because I had a question about this couple since book 1!

Gold Runner: didn't even read it. I didn't like the elf storyline in The Apple Throne so that short story was not one I wanted to read.

Lady Berserk: Vider!! She was one of the characters I wanted to read since The Lost Sun so I'm glad she got her own story, struggling and embracing the Berserk madness and actually having closure with Loki. I wasn't that much into the dragon hunt though.

Glory's Teeth: I love love love this one. Definitely my favorite of the three. Glory aka Fenris Wolf is always a highlight when she appears in any of the book so having a story solely for her was a great choice, especially because it was an insight into her mindset and her sun-sized (geddit) hunger. I loved how she wasn't afraid of being selfish because she was literally destined to eat the sun so what if she did it a little early? Though, I wish we could have more on her relationship with Tyr.

The United States of Asgard book series is definitely one of the best of the world mythology YA books out there, and an underrated one. Glad I'm finally finished with them.

A decent compilation. I liked Lady Berserk the best of the three, the other two were just okay.

honestly i felt this collection was completely unnecessary. it added nothing to the world of the united states of asgard. individual story reviews down below.

gold runner -  i really loved being in amon's head and exploring his thoughts on himself, his family/friendships, his actions and the world and history around him. the only issue i had with this was that some descriptions of kasja in the book felt a lot like they were written by a male author. for example; "i can't get used to the tight feel of her breasts against my back, her thighs hugging my hips." it just felt unnecessarily sexual for no reason. my only other issue is a personal one but i already knew the ending to this story as it's explained in book 3. it's a good story if you want to know the concrete details but overall, i knew what was gonna happen in this story. it was lovely exploring the details tho. i'll give the story 3.5/5 stars.

lady berserk -  oh boy. i didnt like this story anywhere near as much as i liked the first one. i had so many issues with the way that vider is portrayed, how her being a lady berserker affected her and other things. most importantly, i was uncomfortable with the fact that loki, an immortal god, has been in love with vider, a human girl, since she was LITERALLY A CHILD. LIKE 5 YEARS OLD. i,,,,ill add the trigger warnings when i get to the end of this short story collection and do my final review overall, but yh, no. i think this'll be my least favourite story, unless glory's teeth pulls some bullshit outta nowhere. i was gonna give it 2.5 stars but i can't. 1.5 stars.

glory's teeth -  i really did not care reading this book. i'm sorry to say lol. it's a lot of rambling and talk and action but nothing happens. nothing changes. glory is the same at the beginning and the end of the story. overall, i just didn't care and that frustrates me so 2 stars.

I don't usually like to read things that are shorter than novel-length, but when I finished [b:The Strange Maid|18301603|The Strange Maid (The United States of Asgard, #2)|Tessa Gratton|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1396739924s/18301603.jpg|25790139] and saw that this collection of three novellas was coming out, I knew I had to read them. I definitely recommend reading them in the order collected here if you can. It isn't critical, but they refer to each other at various points and it's nice to have insider knowledge. (Like when Vider pesters Sune about who his girlfriend is...if you've already read Gold Runner when you read Lady Berserk, you'll know.)

In general I would highly recommend the United States of Asgard series to anyone with a love for/interest in Norse Mythology. One of the things I find most fascinating about that particular branch of myth is that the gods are so fallible - they make mistakes that will eventually cause the end of the world. In these books, you get to see a world in which those gods are part of modern society and have shaped the culture around them. Also, there's the constant looming prospect of Ragnarok, and intense characters who fall in love with people they shouldn't. Worth the read. Start with [b:The Lost Sun|13021366|The Lost Sun (The United States of Asgard, #1)|Tessa Gratton|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1362068810s/13021366.jpg|18183974] first and then read The Strange Maid before picking up these novellas.
