3/5 Full Review can be found on http://thegraduatedbookworm.blogspot.ca/

For me I found that the book was very fast paced, which I do really enjoy, instead of lolling it out. I know that Charlie and her friends are in grade 9 but I find that they are a little young, and she seems constantly confused when it comes to situations.

I really like the fact that Charlie's mom was having fun at the party, and even acting like a teenager herself.

I liked how Charlie would fight for what she thought was right; even though it never really worked out for her.
Overall I really liked the book, but I found that there was something missing, that could have made it better.

I think I needed to read this book when I was younger because I did not relate to it at all. This book is about firsts - first kiss, first love, first heartbreak. Charlie is a high school freshman who, one day, is randomly kissed at school by a boy named Kevin. This confuses Charlie as she has never thought about Kevin that way and now she can't stop thinking about him that way. Problem is, that one kiss was the only interest he's shown and not much time later, he's kissing her best friend, Tess.

This again goes back to Charlie being a very young teenager at the age of 14. I was so frustrated with her. For keeping the first kiss from Tess to then lusting after Kevin while he and Tess are dating. To make matters worse, Kevin's dad and Charlie's mom start dating so Kevin and Charlie find themselves thrown together in some awkward moments which lead to more thoughts of kissing and even kissing itself. I get it Charlie, you like him, but you're also being a horrible person.

As for Kevin, I really didn't understand him. Why did he just grab Charlie and kiss her that day at school only to then ignore her? Does he actually like Tess? Does he like Charlie? Is he just a hormonal jackass? We don't get any of these answers and I think that makes it the most frustrating.

Overall, it could have been cute. I was expecting cute. But I just ended up annoyed and frustrated with the characters.

hmm....
the word(s): kiss, kissing, kissed is mentioned like 1-10 times on each page.. smh
The first half of the book was so cringe... but it starts picking up around Christmas when they go to Vermont.
I kinda liked it though..

I really liked this book, when I first started it. I couldn't get into it. It was very childish. But by the time I was done I didn't want it to be over. It ended up being very good. Good story. Always wanting to know "whats going to happen next?!?"

More like 3.5 or so.
I liked the book. It was cute, and very teenager-y. It was realistic to a real ninth grade experience. Definitely something most girls can agree with.
The story line was good, but nothing too interesting happened until the very end, I feel. And even then, it wasn't too big, and it wasn't really resolved, and that ending was such a surprise. But there was a lot of love, betrayal, and just humor. It was silly. And, most of all, it was just fun to read. Even if nothing big happened, I still thought it was good.
Then, there was the whole romance aspect. I didn't really feel the characters had any real connection with each other. Although, I did like each individually. They were all awkward and funny, and just coming into themselves, since they were only 14.
Overall, I enjoyed the book, and I will be reading the sequel.

Really good but some parts were annoying because I feel the characters are too young to be saying things like I love you. But it is a light breezy read for a book hangover. The second book is better.

I just read the first chapter and had to throw this book on the ground. The main character is dumb straight from the get go when she allows the guy to kiss her without consent. She at first hates him but then automatically likes him after that assault. Really?! How dumb can you get!? Not a good book for first-time kissers or even experienced ones.

I decided to reread this book because it was sitting on my shelves and for the life of me I couldn’t remember anything about the plot besides that it’s about a girl who is flirting with a guy at school who just so happens dad is dating her mom. Now concept wise I was like shit this must have been good or steamy or some shit like that would make a great 18+ character story that could be crazy all around depending on how it’s done.
Welp that’s not the case. Our characters are 14 and our main girl thinks she’s in love with a guy that up until this point she barely acknowledged until he just randomly kissed her for god knows what reason. Also because this random boy kissed her and now she’s infatuated by him it makes her a slut. She called herself a slut like 4 times in just 2 pages all due to a kiss with a random classmate. Wtf was my younger self thinking when I decided that book is great let’s keep it forever.
The ONLY thing that I can say is a positive is that she legit said this boys kiss felt weird and gross and he tasted like mildew. Which as my younger sister (15 yo) heard me repeat said “straight up cause teen boys don’t know any sort of hygene besides
