The Distance Between Us

Kasie West

3.77 AVERAGE

What Kasie West does that puts her on a level higher than most contemporary authors I've read is dialogue. Her dialogue is so real, funny, and entertaining. This book had me laughing or smiling at a line every chapter. The romance builds slowly from friendship and while there's the trope of non-communication getting in the way of romance, all the issues Caymen and Xander face are very relatable. Kasie West is quickly becoming a surprise favorite author of mine.

The Distance Between Us remains one of KW's best books. I loved On the Fence much more, but this one, alongside with Sunkissed, and Fame Fate and the First Kiss as well are (imo) her best contemporaries.

This book was so cute!! I picked this up on a complete whim and once I started I just couldn't put it down. I completely forgot how cute and fun YA can be. I'll have to make some more time for it in the future :)

Oh and in case you're wondering, this book includes:

1) An awesome, sarcastic (in the best way) heroine

2) A rich but very cute hero

3) An awesome best friend who is always there for the heroine

4) Both some good and bad friends that remind me why I hate people

5) A realistic and thoughtful plot that reminds us that sometimes we don't know what to expect from life but it's better to enjoy the ride then to stand back and let it pass you by.

this was fine but not good. the MC has some serious issues she needs to sort out.

Buddy read with Nashita

THIS BOOK IS SO ADORABLE!!!!
And also filled with sarcasm so obviously I fell in love more.
There were some parts that I thought were a bit dramatic but at the end everything fell together and I'm so happy I read this.

Also Xander is ❤️❤️❤️

I've read Pivot Point and Split Second. I'm familiar and fond of Katie West's work. To an extent her books are predictable, but the good kind of predictable.

If you are picking up the Distance Between Us, you are picking it up cause it's seems like a light-hearted romance. That's exactly what it is. The charm of this books is the protagonist's sarcasm. She has a dry sense of humor that might not appeal to everyone, god knows the book characters agree, but it appealed to me. She had me laughing out loud through out the whole thing.

The book and characters are not deep. It's not going to change your view of the world and have you mourning for days, but you will enjoy the company of these characters through the time it takes you to finish it. In my case: an afternoon. The chapters are short and the pace is quick. There is really not much to say about the book without spoiling it.

Recommending it to those who are looking for a light quick afternoon read or in the market for a book to get them out of their reading slump :D

This book has a pretty predictable plot yet it was an enjoyable read. Nice love story, realistic dialog, a sarcastic character that truly is written well in her sarcastic comments, and there were even a few surprises in the story. Definitely a fun read.

Wasn't expecting to like it so much. Nothing made me super annoyed and I liked the characters. Some parts were really cheesy but whatever.

I've had an absolutely crap kind of day, and this book ended in such a way as to help me at least smile a little bit. I love reading protagonists who are sarcastic as hell, and West wrote it very well here. Add in a rich family who doesn't suck? And yeah, I was hooked. This is clearly a realistic fiction fairy tale but that's how it charmed me. I hope I never get to the point in my life where I don't appreciate a tale that's designed to make people happy and encourage dreaming.

Also, I really want to try those blueberry muffins.
