This was basically just a prologue to the actual novel. I expected a separate novella but got a chapter. Not bad writing, definitely makes me want to read the actual novel but I'm not sure readers are missing much by skipping this short.

I mean, this one was a quickie. A free short story available online. It was one of the shortest companion pieces for YA books that I’ve read. It sets the scene of the fire that took away Mila’s father and is the reason that Mila and her mother are living where they are at the beginning of Mila 2.0. This story was okay. I was hoping for more back story, more about Mila or her mother or some history and origins. Instead, all I got was a fire, and a glimpse of Mila’s attachment to her father. I definitely wanted more from this.

This was a nice little introduction to MILA 2.0. Although I have to say you wouldn't really understand why this is necessary if you haven't read book #1 first. I do love Driza's writing. It's very clean. I think she goes into way too much description, tho and it actually makes it harder to picture what is happening. But this is short and sweet and to the point.

Good premise. a little too short. Would of liked more back story. But I guess she's saving that for the other novels. A good fast read.

I'm really intrigued to know how the story will progress. 3.5 stars.

Okay

The short story was just okay. It was written in present tense which bugged me. But then, the excerpt. The excerpt was glorious. 7 chapters and written in past tense. I’m not like omg I’m in love with it yet, but I’m willing to give the first book (Mika 2.0) a shot.

I admit I'm not the brightest at times...Nor do I read things very carefully, such as....synopses...
Needless to say, I thought this was [b:Mila 2.0|10222362|Mila 2.0 (MILA 2.0, #1)|Debra Driza|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1341031998s/10222362.jpg|15122092], so I was quite shocked to see it was only 60 pages. After I figured out it was a novella that wasn't essential to the story, I was pissed I'd spent money on it! It wasn't bad at all, in fact I actually quite liked where I think the story is heading, but I wouldn't have paid for it. The details of the fire aren't that important to the story. Or at least the first 40 pages of it....
Anyway, I will read Mila 2.0, and I sure as hell will be reading synopses more closely now.

Wow. I have to say for something so very short I am real impressed with it. This novella is only 15 pages long but it is so good and really sets the scene for the upcoming novel Mila 2.0
I personally cannot wait to read more after that short prequel novella. It did exactly what a short novella should do, it set the scene for the novel and really grabbed your attention and left you wanting more. I am so glad I have Mila 2.0 to start straight away. Cannot wait to find out what happens next!

This one is a short one so the review will be too. It was exactly what a short story should be. A hint, a taste of what the full length will be like. I'm ready for the book now.
