the perfect cozy orc romance
I loved everything about this!! Elderberry Falls is the perfect little magical town and Thorak and Mariah’s love story was so touching and sweet. Cannot wait for more books in the series!

Changed from a 4 to a 3, as after a bit of thought it is a bit heavy handed with the explanations and the issues a bit too easily sorted - life long prejudices and beliefs doing a 180° turn in a few months? Ummm...
All that said it's a sweet, cosy romance.

So up until about 75-80% this was a 5 star read. Cosy low-fantasy, fake dating/fake engagement, second chance romance. Adorable groveling orc, trying to win over the woman he's been in love with. A little insta love, but still cute.
Then the drama ensued and it was so manufactured, I found it completely unbelievable and just a way to get our characters to break up. I don't think their actions themselves were out of character, but the 'bad gal' quite literally appeared out of thin air to cause upheaval and then disappeared just as quickly. Basically, whatever the opposite of deus ex machina is. Diaboli ex machina?
And then the last 10% magically everything worked out and everyone's prejudices vanished into thin air.

A nice, easy read. Felt like the romance came on a little too quickly but the characters were fun to read about
This is such a sweet cozy fantasy book. This is the vibes I wanted Legends and Lattes. I loved the chemistry between the characters and the hints of the background characters we get throughout the story. It's just such a fun concept.
