Hot Damn this book was a quick, sexy ride. Will review after I've had time to process.

ETA: This is a book that is hard to forget. Weeks later, I'm still thinking of little things from the book wondering about the main character, the love interest, the world Megan built in this novel.

All I can say is that if you like STEAMY, dark reads, this is one you HAVE to check out. Not only is the writing fabulous, but Megan just has a way of creating feisty female leads that have me rooting for them the entire time -- even if they aren't always the one I SHOULD be rooting for. There's also these little unique quirks she adds to her characters and the worlds she builds that set her books apart from everything else out there. Drowning in Rapture was a super quick read, I flew through the pages, but even in a short read -- she creates quite the story.

I highly recommend checking out Drowning in Rapture and Megan D. Martin. You might just have a new favorite author to follow :)

1,5 " Worst case of cheesy sentences " Star

Alright. It might be unfair of me to call this book THE worst case of tacky -crappy- sentences, but really, let me give you an example and then you might agree with me:

" A soft knock on the door made my pussy clench. "

What? Really?! If I had one thing to say to this woman, it would be this: I truly, honestly, sympathise with you, walking around 24/7 aroused must be terrible. Because that IS exactly what she has to put up with all throughout the book, I mean, there simply wasn't a single page where her body is not showing signs of arousal. Poor woman, that seems very unfortunate. I shit you not though, this stuff is true:

Exhibit A: " My PERMANENTLY hard nipples pressed at the bejeweled fabric. "

Exhibit B: " The beginning of an orgasm built in my core. What the hell? He hasn't even touched me yet! I tried not to let my surprise on my face. This man had readied my body to cum without even touching me. "

And, honestly, I had much more than just two exhibits.

Anyway, Drowning in Rapture is the story of Jewel, her real name is Julia though, a stripper who performs live sex shows. By that, I mean that she gets paid to have sex with a man in front of an audience. Repeatedly. But she's good at her job, so you know, why not? Right? Right. Well, she used to perform the live shows with her best friend, who's gay AND in a relationship, but he left with his said boyfriend to go live the dream in the Big Apple. Therefore, the show must go one. But Jewel needs a partner. And so IN walks The Ripper. Take his name literally. That's what he does, and he's good at it. Jewel, who thought she had everything in her life under control, realizes that the new sexy tattooed, long haired, sex god she has as a partner seems to be good at taking that control away from her...

" I don’t want to lose myself and drown in another man. But I’m afraid it’s already too late... "

So, like I said before, I DID NOT like the wording in this story. And honestly, I DID NOT like the story either. If you're now wondering why in the hell I gave it 1,5 star, well, it's because EVEN THOUGH I didn't like it, I kept reading, for some reason that I cannot explain.

If I really try to find what that reason might be, I guess it's because of the certain mystery that surrounded The Ripper's character. Not Jewel though, I mean, her character was pretty bland and open about everything, pun intended. But The Ripper totally had something going on for him, and I think that's what kept me reading. Damn it, I wanted to know, ok? I won't lie, he was pretty hot. As sexy as a long haired sex beast can be, if such a thing exists.

All of this being said, I absolutely won't continue this series. I read the first one, and had my fill. It's enough. However, if you're looking for a book with PLENTY of scorching sex, and cheesy sentences don't annoy you, well I'd say you've found the perfect book. The sex was great, I ADMIT IT, alright!? It was pretty good. And the guy was hot. That deserves at least a star.

Anyway, I will read more from Megan D.Martin, and I HOPE that I won't have to get through terrible lines like this book made me suffer through. Please.

Another possessive stalker and stripper. That sounds sick but the story is quite okay.

It was between good and okay book. The guy is a control freak. Lol. Well, yeah. And like Edward (Twilight) tendecies. To extreme. :O If you read the book, you'll know what I meant by that. It's not that bad though, some parts it was fun to get insight of a strip club. It's not easy for people who got a job stripping. It's not like they want it or enjoyed it. Some might but in this case, she's a stripper because it pays oh-so-well.

So I am not condemning Julia for her choices. Bad choices she made because as she have said, she made mistakes, it was her choice so she owned it. I am glad for that kind of attitude.

Will I recommend the book? Hmm.. Maybe. It's not so bad. So yeah, maybe.

I shouldn't have taken this book so lightly when I read the blurb, although I knew this was going to be good because it's a Megan D. Martin book... But hear me when I say I had no idea this book would render me SPEECHLESS. (Well not really, because I was going all "Oh.My.God" the whole time, so technically, I could still utter at least three words... not entirely speechless then)

This book is nothing close to any feel good contemporary romance you've ever read. Everything in this is just extremely explosive and unbelievable, your mouth would be gaping wide open as you read.

Jewel is a stripper... and not just any stripper. She's the star of the strip club, alongside with her gay bestfriend who performs as Poseidon, and together, they're a tandem. And not only does she strip for a living, she also performs live sex shows with him at VIP parties. But when her gay best friend decides to move away with his boyfriend, she's left alone with no more performance partner... until she finds out that someone's decided to fill in Poseidon's shoes... THE RIPPER.

She's never met him, ever. But this guy knows her real name, and makes her feel all hot and bothered, for someone who's been dancing naked and having sex for a long time. The Ripper a.k.a. Cole is a total enigma.

The chemistry between Jewel and Cole is just purely insane -- a grenade ready to blow. And damn, this book got me turning page after page, like what I've expected from a Megan D. Martin novel -- from their first performance, up to the next.

The only thing that threw me off a bit was Cole's backstory, but going into further detail about him would cause a major spoiler. But instantly my reaction had been: "HOLEE-SHIT!!! WHAT THE F*CK WAS THAT?!"

Another insane thing is that this book ends with a cliffhanger... well of course it did, haven't I learned anything from reading other Megan D. Martin's books? She still shocks me, every. Single. Time. I'm not even going to lie, this book was all kinds of crazy... AND I LOVE IT.

I'm really beyond stoked to read the next book now, because cliffhangers drive me crazy.

2.5 -Bien, eso fue decepcionante -estrellas.

*SPOILER ALERT*

description

description
