Ugh, this book gave me major feelings. Eva and Shane deserve all the happiness in the world, and I was rooting for them from page 1. I read most of this book over the course of an extremely long plane flight, then finished it this morning when I couldn't sleep due to jet lag, so not the most coherent review. But I'm so happy they found each other. Definitely review content warnings before going in if that's important for you, I found some scenes very hard to read.

This book came well recommended and with good reason. Wow I absolutely adored it. The simultaneous storytelling of the couple in the past and present worked really well to show you how much they've changed and yet how much their connection is the same. I loved that they weren't just magically better - they both worked a lot on themselves to become better people. I thought that both Eva's chronic illness and Shane's alcoholism were topics that were handled very well. I did feel that the end was a bit dissatisfying and rushed, but it was definitely more realistic than most romances. It was also way funnier than anyone told me it would be! Eva's character specifically is hilarious. Loved this one a lot!

Damn, I'm on a roll with the romance picks. This was funny, sexy, emotional, everything! I went berserk highlighting my copy and I actually laughed out loud. I even enjoyed the ~spice~ and wanted more (gasp!). However, I would advise to check the trigger warnings because this delves into a lot of trauma.

Shane and Eva felt like whole human beings, both in their past and present depictions. Their lost, broken teenage selves were so strikingly different from their mostly-well-functioning adult selves and yet I instantly believed in the development. Incredible chemistry between them. I really like how the third act was handled - I was scared the conflict would be unnecessary and end up ruining the book, but it led to a great ending, hopeful and realistic. I haven't read a lot of romance, but I can safely say this is my favorite!
