Let me first just clarify that I did in fact like this story. It was fun, sexy, sometimes sad and made me melt a little too. I liked Zane and Ty a lot. Both with their own issues aplenty, enough to keep the reader guessing and intrigued by the depth of their hidden emotions. Cut & Run comes with the usual hotness of two Alpha males in alpha situations. The chemistry was pretty intense even if there wasn't much of a build up to it. It just happens, boom, chemistry after the characters take an obvious dislike for each other at their first meeting. The plot line continues in the manner of action packed movie/tv series with the car chases, serial killer on the rampage, both Zane and Ty laying their life on the line while refusing medical treatment for obviously very serious wounds. It is in fact the relationship development that I liked the most about this book. Oh and the steamy shower scene of course. ;)
On the other hand, I’m not sure if this was an exercise in style but the constant change of POV confused me and, at first, it didn’t allow me to get invested in the story. But I got used to it after a while. There were also a few arbitrary elements in the book that didn’t seem to contribute anything to the story, like that conversation Ty had on his cell with someone in a Middle-Eastern language that sounded like Farsi to Zane. My general impression was that the text could have benefited from some additional editing since there were a few inconsistencies in the time line or in the characters’ actions.
But anyway. Like I said at the beginning of this review, I liked this book. A lot. I especially enjoyed the soft tender moments toward the end of this book, and I will be reading more of this series.

*happy sigh* I loved it.
It scratched a romantic Rust and Marty itch I didn’t know I had.
I’m a sucker for burly, self loathing men who find peace and strength in each other’s arms. Who knew? (I did. I knew.)

I keep seeing this mentioned as an MM romantic suspense classic, so I pushed through…but just did not enjoy it. Though I like multiple-POV books, the head hopping in this one gave me whiplash, and there was SO MUCH of what felt to me like melodramatic flouncing. Like, I get that you are both grumpy and don’t play well with others, but I got bored with the sheer amount of that (seriously. Not one interaction can happen without an argument of some kind?) pretty quickly and just started finding the characters unlikeable. (And I say that as someone who enjoys a well written antihero.) I will probably read the next book in the series, since I’ve heard they improve drastically after this first one, but I hope that’s accurate, because this was a slog and did not give me the dopamine I am needing this week.
I came late to the game for this incredible series and the totally amazing Ty Grady and Zane Garrett.
I love this book. I love everything about it. The mystery, which is not easy to decipher, the action, a lot of things getting blown up and killed and the Special Agents. It's really hard to fully express what it is that makes Cut & Run so fun and exciting to read. These two guys have so much shit in their pasts that being "normal" is not even possible. The fact that little glimpses of tenderness and vulnerability creep through amidst the sarcasm and snarkiness makes for a much more believable romance.
The hotness factor is off the charts. Ty and Zane are smoking together and it makes for some really well written sex scenes. The kind that make you feel like you need a cold shower after. That's how hot they are.
I can't say enough good things about this first book in the series!

I was just scrolling down my library ebooks to find something, honestly been a pitiful days of reading happening and over the years I had seen very good reviews/response of Cut and Run series ones so I thought why not give it a try.
Ty Grady and Zane Garrett are FBI agents, who are now partnered together to work on a serial killer case. Ty and Zane at first glance cannot be more different from each other, one looks like a hoodlum who needs a bath and the other an uptight put together, suited up man. Ty doesn't want a new partner and Zane doesn't want the asshole sitting next to him as a partner. Their first few interactions are filled with snark and Ty trying to annoy Zane as much as possible while Zane giving back the best he can. Their attraction to each other is a complication neither really wants, but can't really seem to repress either.
I enjoyed it, even though I had issues some aspects of it. I did enjoy Ty and Zane's dynamic. I do think if I had read it back when it was released, probably would have enjoyed it a lot more. Because in the decade it was released I have read a lot of romantic suspense and watched a lot of detective shows.
Why not a higher rating?
There was also some disconnect between the whole plot, the way Ty and Zane changed to each other from who they were at the start, in the middle of the book. Zane was more understandable because he states out right, this person he is now isn’t who he used to be and his struggles with his addictions etc. Ty’s was a bit questionable, because after the concussion he changes to a different person. Also they are together a few days then apart for months and repeat was also not my favourite thing.
Also for who two people that are said to be very smart and great at their job, they don't act like it. There are quite a few times, when they just simply not paying attention to things, like someone's talking or at a crime site and they were just off in their own world. I’ll let this one slide in this book because they both were too wrapped in their own issues and each other to really bother with whatever else was going on. Due to this, the aspect of who the serial killer was super obvious from the start and it was just frustrating that they couldn’t see it.
Also considering who the serial killer was following, did no one from a number of their colleagues in law enforcement/ME/profilers etc know about the books ? Or even just did rudimentary internet search. I’m hoping the suspense part of the series, is better in the rest of the series. It just bugged me more because Ty is supposed to be the profiler yet his behaviour isn’t very profiler like. Maybe the author went a bit overboard because Ty is a marine, he’s also profiler but also works undercover, does other jobs off the books. Its a just a lot!
Anyways people really love the series and Ty and Zane so I’m gonna give the other books a chance to see for myself.

It have been a nice first book to start of the series but i have some things that i didn't enjoy. The chapters were to much long for me like some of them were 48 page long and the little ones around 20. I also hated that i figured out how the killer was after the first 100 pages, the suspans and anticipation have faded away really fast. The main characters were ok, I loved how both of them needed each other and how they were both able to stop the other from doing something awful. The banter between them was everything and I lived for this moments. I loved that even with some time away for each other the moment they meet again is like they never were separated.
It was alright. It did become a chore after a while. I wish there was more time spent on the actually case. I got tired of all the insults/flirting, both before and after they realized they had feelings for each other. It was easy to figure out who the killer was, though that's not necessarily a bad thing. I already have the next book on Audible. I hope it's much better.
This is exactly why I don't like mystery books. Apparently, I need to trust my instincts more because the killer was staring me in the face, saying it's me, it's me, and I blew them off.
Honestly, I'm glad I did because I loved getting to know Ty and Zane... best duo ever!
