I read this book because my son had just hit middle school. It makes my heart ache to think kids feel this way about school and feel they have no friends. I also struggle that the real bully never gets caught or in trouble. My middle school son read this when I was done and found it funny.

I bought this book for my ten year old son and he loved it. James Patterson is one of my favorite authors and I really love that he makes children books as well. I decided to read this once my son finished it And I loved it! It was funny and the drawings inside were hilarious. We will continue to buy more of these books!

Do you know a reluctant middle grade reader? Then this might be the book you have been looking for to put in their hands. It is about a 6th grader, Rafe and his crazy plan to break every rule in his middle school's code of conduct. We get to follow along with him and his friend Leo as they work them through the code of conduct and played it as a game. Rafe is trying to do this without his sister, Georgia; his crush, Jeanne; and his arch-nemsis, Miller the Killer from finding out his secrets. This is a combination of a graphic novel and a chapter book. The black ink illustrations really add to the story.

Meh. I'm neutral on this one. I was looking for an audiobook to listen to while running errands and doing housework. I figured since I've read so many Patterson adult novels I should finally give one of his books for kids a try (I've only read adult books or picture books). I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. If I'm in the mood for a kids audiobook and saw the next one while purusing the shelves, I would pick it up. Or, if I'm looking for an audio and can't find anything that interests me, I would pick up more of these. I wouldn't mind revisiting Rafe and the kids in his school, but I also wouldn't seek them out. I wasn't pulled into the world enough to keep reading or listening to future books, but if I can't find anything else at a later date, then I would pick them up and not be upset. Just so so for me.

This is the first in a continuing series of books by Patterson geared towards young adults. It follows the life of narrator Rafe Khatchadorian and his first year of middle school at Hills Valley. Rafe comes up with a plan to keep his interest throughout the year. With his friend Leo the Silent, he comes up with the game to break all the rules in the school code book without getting caught along the way. I liked that the format of this story included many real life situations alongside its many hyperbolic ones. Rafe is just regular kid trying to take the hand he's been dealt and make it interesting. The book contains many illustrations to go along with the story, and many also continue the story line. In all I found this a very quick and entertaining read. For anyone looking for a fun humorous read, this is your book!
