I received this for my birthday as part of a whole ramen-making thing (another ramen cookbook, my very own set of Studio Ghibli chopsticks, and an online ramen making class). I'm glad that I started with this book.

It is very approachable. The art style is whimsical but realistic enough that everything is recognizably what it is in real life. I like, also, how each piece of the ramen beast is broken down into doable-from-your-own-kitchen parts. There are some time-consuming aspects to making ramen at home, but this book is conceived in such a way as to make each of those steps easy to understand, easy to do, and then easy to store (I have a bunch of broth in the freezer now, just waiting for noodles and toppings).

I'll be making a lot of ramen in the coming cold days.

Not exactly a graphic novel, and not entirely a cookbook. I liked it more than any other cookbook I've read. Unfortunately, I wasn't situated to try any of the recipes while I was reading and will have to pick it up again. There was a lot of good info on noodle and broth making, both of which exceed my current kitchen set-up, but it did motivate me to try.

It also had many fun tidbits about the history of ramen.

Let’s Make Ramen! fa parte delle cose che ho comprato un po' a caso, andando dove mi portava il cuore, nel paio di spedizioni tra fumetterie californiane durante l’ultima GDC. Fa parte di una specie di collana che include altri tomi simili (ne ricordo uno sui ravioli e uno sulla cucina coreana) ed è sostanzialmente un mix di divulgazione e manuale d’istruzioni che racconta il ramen, le sue origini, il suo senso, ma include anche una valanga di ricette e spiegazioni approfondite su come organizzarsi la dispensa, imparare le parti più complesse della preparazione, creare una formula adatta ai propri gusti. È una lettura molto piacevole e ricca, ha dei disegni bellissimi che fanno venire una fame lercia e ti mette una gran voglia non solo di cimentarti ai fornelli, ma anche proprio di organizzarti una dispensa ad hoc. Bello.
