I LOVED IT. The story is so good and as stubborn as Ember can be, she has the right intentions. The battle isn’t over yet though and I stress any main important characters dying in the last book, though I know it’s bound to happen :((.

Still I am satisfied with how this book played out and I am so happy that Ember chose Garret. From the beginning I loved them together so this is a big win for me.

I also think however that something dragon-like is happening to Garret, especially with the weird things going on a bit with him. How Riley saw that Garret’s pupils were like slits at that one point, and how he can heal faster than a human. I think that may be foreshadowing.

Dante is really getting on my nerves, and he’s too corrupt to realize that Talon and the Elder Wyrm are wrong. Ughhh I hope he pulls himself together in the last book.

Overall I really enjoyed the plot and everything that happened between Garret and Riley and Ember. I also love how Mist joined them and how Jade helped out with that big battle at the end of the book.

I look forward to the last one! I recommend this to fantasy, action and romance lovers (though it isn’t mainly romance).

The Talon series is a series that is enjoyable and fun, but not much more, and this trend continues with Legion. The overarching plot gets finally furthered, and we learn more of the secrets around Talon. I liked a bit more than Soldier, so it gets 3.5 stars from me.

After the mean cliffhanger of the last book, Riley saves Garett’s life by transferring him some of his dragon blood (if I remember correctly lmao). Garett’s first chapter after his death was so good, and I love the way his emotions were portrayed. Now, our characters are still trying to find out what Talon has planned while also getting still threatened by the Order. Dante is back again and with him, of course, a lot of drama.

Some of the plot of Legion is just a bit too constructed for me. With Riley, I always have the feeling that he does the things that the plot needs him to do, and not what a real being would do. Mist
is also just suddenly on their side
. I was additionally annoyed by the throwback chapters; they didn’t add too much to the story. Moreover, it takes one-third of the story until we saw dragons which was a bit long. I’m also not sure what to think about the plot around Talon. It was no surprise that
they would fail when they just walk into Talon, and that Dante forces Ember to come with him. This plotline that the Wyrm wants to put her conscience into Ember’s body is just a bit weird tbh

The .5 of my rating mainly stems from the ending which was really exciting. We get some good old time pressure so that the situation is suddenly much more tense. It’s so cute
how they save Riley’s people and how they’re all together in this farmhouse, I loved this
. The rest of the finale was so epic and especially Dante’s POV was so well written.

Most of the things I said about the characters in my last reviews is still true for Legion. The POVs are just too similar so that I sometimes forgot whose POV I was reading. Riley is still really annoying and rude, the story would still fail the Bechdel test, and the Asian character is reduced to being Asian and getting sexualized, yikes. At least, the love triangle is finally resolved here. It’s quite obvious who Ember would choose but I’m happy with this choice since
Garett and Ember are quite cute together
. Furthermore, Dante’s character changes a bit lot, he’s suddenly framed as this cold guy.

Overall, I had fun with Legion, especially with the last chapters. I’m curious how Kagawa will wrap up the series.

I'm calling it now.

Garrett's dad is a dragon.

Or maybe I'm just an idiot?

I’m finally starting to get really into this series. I’m liking Ember more and more. The action is getting more intense the more secrets that are revealed. The love triangle is sort of resolved (though not to my liking).
Ember has really grown. She knows that she needs to do whatever it takes to fight Talon. She doesn’t shy away from the hard things anymore. While they still bother her, she understands what she needs to do. I really loved the moment she had where she was in her head and came face to face with her dragon. That really made me happy because the separation in Ember’s mind of her dragon and the human side was something I complained about in my review for the last book.
I liked that while Garret and Riley still had their own chapters, they sort of took a backseat to the other characters. I still like them both, but this book was meant for Dante and Ember to shine.
Dante makes me so mad. I just want him to come to Ember’s side and understand that everything he thinks he knows is a lie. I hate that he’s being fooled and I’m really hoping to see him learn the truth in the final book.
Overall, this one was probably my favorite of the series so far. I’m excited to read the final book in the series and finally finish this story.

At about a quarter through, Jade left. She's my favorite! I liked Ember at first but her storyline has become more and more boy centric.

Previously the multiple first person point of views didn't confuse me much but this time I kept forgetting who "I" was supposed to be.

Riley and company actually staked out the building before going charging in. Why wasn't this standard procedure? How many traps would they have avoided if they were a little cautious?

I mean if you’ve read all the way to book four, you either love this series and nothing I’m going to say is going to sway you or you have a serious case of unfinished series avoidance (that’s me).

Anyways I went back and read my review of Soldier (book 3) and well I guess there’s improvement. LOVE TRIANGLE GONE! But that’s kinda the only exciting part of this book. With so many narrators (four!) this book moves at an incredibly slow pace, something my seething over the love triangle seems to have masked. It’s not even a short book, it’s just that a three minute encounter expands into half an hour of narration because we have to hear from Cobalt, Ember, and Garrett - and even still there really are no repeat moments (the narration never backtracks).

However, I enjoyed quite a few little parts of this book. First has to be the weird sci-fi adventure in the middle of the book
Spoiler EMBER ALMOST GETS HER MIND WIPED
and the ensuing introspection that leads Ember to make some VERY important life choices. While the action was perhaps a bit lackluster in this book compared to its predecessors, we finally have everyone working together in a civilized manner and testosterone battles and hissy fits kept to a minimum and I think the smoothness that affords the book is more than worth it.

Stuff is really coming together: I think we’ve finally uncovered what Talon is trying to do and a few of the possible endings have been laid out too. What I appreciate most about this series is how identity has been such a major issue and I really hope the finale gives us some resolution or at least peace.
